High Idle After Replace ICV

Another thing to try is to remove the rubber inlet manifold and clean out the throttle body with carb spray or brake cleaner spray. Throttle body is the part that contains the butterfly and TPS /ICV, it can get a bit gummed up and that can affect idle.

This was the first thing I done. Made sure everything was clean.

Thanks!!! Got the set of those now.

Can the TPS be cleaned?

I tried that on mine but if it's buggered then it's buggered. You can try before replacing it to see if it helps, best you can do is carb clean the contact points and then lube the butterfly. I very much doubt it will help though.

Replaced TPS, ICV and MAP.

Now the check engine light doesn't go off...

How's the idling though? I know when the check engine light didn't go off on mine I forgot to plug something back in.

Nothing happening. It starts, but then struggles to idle and cuts out... I have to keep giving it gas to prevent it from cutting out.

Is there a reliable place I can have the car taken to to have the engine re done?

In cape town.

Try putting your old MAP sensor back in and see what happens. Can't help you on the mechanic side I'm in PE.

Thanks tried this. Same thing also...

Going to take it to Alan Edwards motors to see if they can manage to sort it out.

Doesn't sound too serious, but stop stuffing around and wasting money on parts that don't need to be replaced.

Why did you replace the MAP sensor though? Best of luck bud, even on a diagnostic machine they couldn't pick up it was my TPS giving issues. Kept kicking out an ICV error.

Sounds like the ICV, can you keep it going if you rev it?
Try putting the original back in and see if it's better.

Or save yourself the pain and just take it in.

Sounds like it could be anything, I agree rather take it to someone. It does sound though like the ICV isnt 'extending' to regulate the idling.

Damn. You lucky to get that much, a new ECU costs and arm and a leg. So now you're stuck without a car?

Edit: how did they test the ECU?

Took it to GM.

Yep yep... been stuck without one for months now.
