Yes, I saw remote VISA's are now a thing but you have to be earning $2700 a month I think for the Portugal one. Freelance work is very unstable so pulling that money constantly is not easy for most people.

Absolutely agree, few years back Oz and NZ were all the rage and my colleagues immigrated there.
In recent past we lost two to Netherlands and as of last week one to Nordic countries.
 
Thailand seems nice. Obviously very different culture to here but very friendly people. Quite a big car scene as well. They seem to race anything.

Well, Asia has it's advantages and disadvantages but also not for everyone. If you okay with accepting the status quo, accepting you will never truly be accepted and not being able to critique politics in the country, it is worth a move. If not, reconsider.

Advantages are safety and (usually) better services and value for money. Plus salaries are better, especially for jobs they are willing to hire foreigners for.

It was one family a week when we arrived.
 
Probably has a significant positive impact at the polls for the ANC. Slow boil is working well. Be gone with the clever ones.

I am trying to get a work visa for Thailand. Visited there about 10 years ago and absolutely loved it

Okay and good for you.

It can also be very safe and you can earn a lot of money but just know that many people will still always treat you as a guest and not someone who will be accepted as a local. Obviously there will be exceptions but it is not the norm.

If you can accept this, it will be a blast but it can also lead to depression for some once the novelty/honeymoon period goes away.

ESL teacher is the easiest way to get in. You can go in that way and then try to apply for other jobs. If you are lucky enough, maybe you can find a company who will be willing to change your visa status to reflect your new job.

Ok but on a serious note, It is sad that this is happening to SA :( and that difficult choices are ahead for the young professionals in sa to either stay or go to overseas countries where better prospects seem guaranteed.

Aah OK. Well one a week is still a LOT, especially for 3 years ago.

I think it is even more than my guesstimate.

When we went to the CPT consulate, we had to have our pictures re-taken and was referred to a photographic shop down the road.
I spoke to the guy doing the pics that is also one of the owners and asked him how often he takes these pics.

He said they have taken about 120 pictures during the first 3 months of 2022.

This is JUST for CPT and JUST for the NL.

Now try and imagine what's happening all over SA and for ALL the current favorite emigration destinations.

It has gone from a trickle to a flood....
