Highly-skilled people leave SA

Visas aren't tied to jobs over there, work Permits are. Luckily you can have multiple work permits for various jobs.

He said they have taken about 120 pictures during the first 3 months of 2022.

This is JUST for CPT and JUST for the NL.

Now try and imagine what's happening all over SA and for ALL the current favorite emigration destinations.

It has gone from a trickle to a flood....

I don't think that's an accurate way to measure things, to be honest. Some of those people are not settling there. Some might only be on temp work and coming back, all sots of reasons.

But I do think more and more people are leaving SA - but no one really knows the numbers. It's all guesstimates. I think SARS might be closer to the real numbers.

I understand your comment 100%...but what I neglected to add was that the guy asked these people if they are going on holiday or emigrating and nearly all replied emigrating.

I know this sounds very handy and not an anecdote I can prove...and that's OK by me.
 
meh it's the same old song since 1994.... the wealthy and ambitious leave.... the poor and stubborn stay.

Big rats flee the ship with the best food while the small rats try and survive as best they can.

Well, my anecdote is that one of my friends from high school is now looking to emigrate. Problem is this guy hates change of any kind, he is on the autism spectrum, and now even he says that the issues are bad enough for him to consider making the move. Already has 22 Spreadsheets of data compiled on various destinations.

Really though he would be one of the last "bittereinders".

This is hectic! 120 photographs in 3 months! Wonder what the actual numbers are. Hectic! Im laughing but I shouldn't laugh at such a sad state of affairs.

Hmmm, ex-colleague of mine emigrated to there to work at that large pharmaceutical company.

Fun fact:
That company was once one of my customers - in fact it was due to a product that we manufactured specifically for them that I started up a whole Export division at the local company I used to work for.

ETA: I personally know at least 5 families that have emigrated to The Netherlands in the past 2 years.
