Hi all
I need to send a 1Gb video file to a broadcaster in Israel urgently - the broadcast is tonight.
My ADSL link (Telkom/Mweb) shows that it will take 24 hours to upload.
Is there anyway I can do an urgent upload / buy a service from someone?
I have tried UUNET and they are all off today!
I am happy to pay - just need to know how to do this. Satellite?
Anyone wants to phone me direct the number is 0836536383
Regards

Find someone with a 4mb line who has 640k upstream, they can upload it in 5 or 6 hours.

maybe split the file into 2x 500mb files and ask 2 people to upload it, it'll be quicker... where u based?

If you're in CPT, I might be game to help.

Where are you based?

I've got about 1.2Mb/s uplink on HSPA and 1Mb/s on Wimax.

Hi there
I am located in Fish Hoek - although as Skeptic has said - we are based in Kalk Bay. I assume we work together Skeptic!??
I think I have run out of time on this one - but I have been helped by a friend in Westlake who gave me access to a high speed line and we are already sitting at 600Mb uploaded - lets pray for no line breaks!
Thanks to everyone who responded - I think we need to re-look at our office options - so now I am looking for assistance to install the right product for high speed, large file uploads and downloads.

I have a 4Mbit upstream connection into IS available. I'm in Wilro Park/Helderkruin in the West Rand/Gauteng...
Edit: I see Media Village is situated in Cape Town, so I guess I can't help ? ;/ sorry mate. if you can get here somehow, though, i'm more than willing

You might also want to get hold of the dude from this thread: http://mybroadband.co.za/vb/showthread.php?t=115071
He'll probably be able to increase your upstream from 384k to 640k, assuming you're on 4Mbit, if that's any help

Large Video FIle Uplinks --

Sorry I cannot help here -- but your post has piqued my interest.

IF I understand correctly news studios normally have specialised multi meg Satellite Video uplinks. IS there anyone in SA that has access to this technology ?

I would assume Multichoice ? But that might just be downlink ? CSIR at Hartbeeshoek -- but perhaps not for the "media" SENTECH ? US Embassy in PTA ?

A private studio somewhere -- CNN / REUTERS / BBC / SKY / AFP -- what do these people use in SA ? Their specialised broadcast vans ?

Please feel free to talk away if you know anything about this stuff. I am interested in ALL of it.

so MUCH to know -- so LITTLE time <crying>
