He'll probably not be removed cause he has support of the RET in the ANC (don't see the ANC giving voting instruction here) and the EFF (they'll say it's because he's black).

Hlophe cannot contest the facts, so he is throwing up all sorts of procedural smokescreens:

I feel very sorry for the people that have to read that.
Please add the manhours wasted going through this to his (hopefully) eventual sentence

569 pages, in bold Comic Sans?

I read this earlier today, his lawyer is brave to go down this 'high noon' route.

The last writhings of the dying snake. This POS is going down for sure, just needs time.

We remain hopeful:

Looks like he fancies his chances with Part B. Going for the base cause.
Hlophe – in part B of his application – wants to have the high court set aside the tribunal’s findings.

He also wants the high court to rule that the JSC meeting – in which the majority voted that he should be impeached – be declared unlawful as the commission “failed to perform its constitutional obligations”.

The Daily Maverick says that the Part B application is not an obstacle to his immediate suspension:

Western Cape Judge President John Hlophe to learn his fate in next 10 days

Western Cape Judge President John Hlophe will know his fate in the matter against the Judicial Services Commission (JSC) within 10 days.

Gauteng deputy Judge President Aubrey Ledwaba on Monday said the judgment in the matter should be finalised without further delay.

Judge President Ledwaba heard arguments between Judge Hlophe’s counsel, Lihle Sidaki, and Max du Plessis who represented Freedom Under Law (FUL).

The application heard in the hearings included an application to intervene by FUL and the Rule 30 application filed by Judge President John Hlophe which seeks to set aside the replying affidavit filed by FUL.

Hlophe hit back at the JSC tribunal and further claimed that its findings may have been influenced by retired Constitutional Court Justice Johann Kriegler, who is also the FUL’s chairperson.

Just how gross was Hlophe’s misconduct? Five-day fight over JSC finding begins

It may be judge president John Hlophe today, but tomorrow it could be another judge.

So said Thabani Masuku SC in court on Monday, arguing why the court should set aside the Judicial Service Commission’s (JSC) decision that Hlophe committed gross misconduct.

The JSC in August referred Hlophe to parliament for possible impeachment. Its decision related to a 2008 complaint by all the then justices of the Constitutional Court that Hlophe had sought to improperly influence the outcome of cases then pending before their court related to corruption charges against former president Jacob Zuma.

The complaint followed two separate visits to the Constitutional Court — one to justice Chris Jafta, then acting at the highest court, and one later to justice Bess Nkabinde.
