I've managed to hook another one up to my Gemini motor too (well, originally I did, but then I discovered no wifi coverage there, so I moved it to a garage and rather broke open an extra remote and hooked that to the SV -- the SV is powered from an old USB power supply).

None yet! I was concerned that it would trigger at boot, but Tasmota seems good.

One thing to check is the security -- the original video I watched suggested setting wificonfig to 2 to force the Sonoff to go into AP mode if it can't connect to wifi. Basically, start up an unrestricted Wifi access point with a DHCP server. This is a lot easier to use to setup an initial Sonoff, but it is a major security loophope: if your wifi dies, anybody can open your gate!

I currently use wificonfig 5 (meaning, if the wifi disappears, retry but don't reboot and don't write anything to flash).

I also have a Sonoff Basic connected to my gate light, and on this one I have a reedswitch connected to the IO pin. This notifies me immediately if my gate is open. It has been a lifesaver a couple of times -- I tend to press the remote buttons when the remote is in my backpocket.

Anyone know where to get the FTDI USB to TTL Serial Adapter?

Smartkit and Communica sold out. Other places really expensive (raru in R300 range).

Hehehe, I don't really make money on the FTDI to TTL converters - it's just convenient for guys to buy with the Sonoff stuff.

EDIT: oh dear, looks like somebody bought a lot of them!
