Interesting. I ordered 5 esp8222 boards from china with the idea of using them as aircon remotes with custom coding. Using basics or SVs would be a good option given the state of customs atm.
What IR blaster/receivers are you using to control the aircon?

At this stage, I'm just using the standard remote, nothing fancy yet.
I was thinking of mounting a Temp-Humidity sensor as well as infra-red onto a unit and then writing the code to adjust based on the conditions. I just need to get the commands for the Jet-Air unit.
 
Expanding the Sonoff Basic.

Apart from just using the Sonoff Basic to switch items on and off, you are able to connect other types of sensors to it as well, i.e. temperature, pressure, and humidity sensors, both Single wire as well as I2C sensors.
You are also able to add extra switches to it, or sensors for garage door/ window open or closed.
I have not done so yet, but you are able to create the equivalent of a remote blaster, to receive IR commands and resend them in another room.
My next project is to set up one as a remote transmitter to control my air conditioner, I will keep you updated.

Currently I have connected the Pin 4 (Gnd) and 5(GPIO14) to the relay of a beam crossing the area before my swiming pool, the equivalent of an electronic fence. As soon as anyone goes in that area, it toggles this, which will then set off an alarm via Home Assistant.

I am still busy setting up the automation to get all this going. This means switching it off on Thursdays automatically when the Garden service arrives, or me switching it off if we have a pool party or braai. HA must then switch it back on by say 3:00am if my whiskeys have made me forget to do so.

Here is a Pic of the basic with the Ground and GPIO14 exposed, the only 2 I needed for this exercise.

As long at the transmitter communicates with the Home Hub, then to 2 don't need to be near each other. Keep transmitter on the DB and the Hub connected to a switch.

So the transmitter only broadcasts the sensor? So I assume those two need to be together?

You plug one or three sensor clamps into the transmitter. That just sends readings to the hub, which is plugged into your network and the internet. It uploads to efergy and they expose an API for you to query your data. That's why the efergy home assistant integration is marked with IoT class "cloud polling".
 
This is quite cool. Do you plan on carrying more of their products, such as the Husky Air?

Pity that it doesn't look like you can integrate these into Home Assistant (at least not to the extend that the parent company's cameras - Hikvision - can be integrated).

Yeah, we're going to up the range in time (I hope). We're getting directly from Hikvision - but the range is limited, at present.

re: Home Assistant "from what i can tell ezviz and hikvision share some of the same protocol. I can get somethings to work but not all of it."

So it's a pity - hopefully someone will sort this out.

Simple answer is that most of us wouldn't risk it, since the geysers draw would be close to the limits of the POW itself....

Not true for 2kW or even 3kW. 13A max with overload protection.

That being said we accept no liability for damage caused by any installation ;)
 
Just out of interest, do you specifically need an outdoor camera?

Well it would depend.

It possibly doesn’t need to be strictly outdoors as it would be mounted under the eaves.

The ones there now I didn’t install and probably aren’t.

But ultimately I would want one that is either motorised or very wide angle.

Haven’t put too much thought into it yet if I’m honest. Just saw your products and thought it a potential upgrade avenue if I can use the existing wiring to power it and connect it via WiFi.

Ah, just that the EZVIZ C6T (indoor) has 360° Panoramic View. The smart helmet has a Pan/Tilt function. You can see every angle of the room, using your phone as a remote control.

It's just that it's an indoor camera.
