Another Question.

My EZVIZ cameras are hooked up with IFTTT and connected to ewelink. This means during the night if the camera gets motion alerts - it switches on my outside lights (connected with Sonoff).

The only gripe I have is this takes about 10 minutes from motion alert to switching on the lights. Based on other forums it seems an expensive exercise for EZVIZ to track activity in IFTTT when so many things are happening.

Any other suggestions welcome.

I've actually never tried this ... I'll give it a bash.

It'd be awesome if this thing worked!

It works, with a delay. Don't mind a 2 minute delay as it could actually trick a skelm - but at the moment ranges between 10-15 min.
 
Another very cool thing I do with my sonoff's is switch on my lights (bedside lamp and driveway), when my alexa alarm goes off.

So as soon as alarm goes off, it switches on lights automatically - this is done through ifttt integration.
 
IFTTT is pretty cool.

My own opinion is that they now need to make it conditional - so IF x THEN y BETWEEN a certain time.

I can link my Sonoff motion sensor to a light, so it automatically switches on with motion - but it happens 24hrs a day. It'd be great to activate the light from 19:00 - 05:00 only. It could also solve your issue above with the camera and 10 minute delay.

I've connected my TV so that when I switch it on, the lamp directly next to it switches off (no direct light when I'm watching) - but the light behind me switches on for ambiance. When I turn it off again, the light behind switches off.

When I say 'Alexa, good night' - the TV and all internal lights go off (I leave the external with sunrise / sunset - and my water feature is scheduled to go off at 00.00 anyhow with a Sonoff)

Maybe look into running something like HomeAssistant?

I've got similiar rules in HA and its almost instant.

Toying with the idea of trying the above camera's - or something like Arlo - scared I'm swamping my wifi network, already have 5 internal camera's and 1 external on it.

I used to use it - our opinions differ though :p

The iFan02 has it's own remote control and I have loaded Tasmota before.

You would need a separate device monitoring temperature that could then turn on the fan.

Yes, time schedules for applets in ifttt is definitely needed.

There is another way, through stringify - but haven't had time to play with it.

Can the iFan work with out normal old school ceiling fans that you have in most of SA that aren’t LED driven?

Even if just for the fan speed and ignoring the light? Wiring didn’t make much sense to me when I looked at it.

I think it’s time you just accept you need Home Assistant and Tasmota in your life.

You can get away with a Raspberry Pi...in fact their primary implementation is specifically for that and is the "easy mode" way of doing it.

But you've triggered my thought patterns because I've wanted a way to have Apple Bedtime Clock fire off my bedside light in the same transition fashion. I was hoping iOS12 and Shortcuts would be the solution but seemingly quite limited still.
 
Are any of you guys using Alexa to control RF 433Mhz devices with an add on device that let's you learn functions from an RF remote?

I want to Alexa to control my projector screen and am unsure what the best way to go is. I am thinking of adding a Broadlink RM Pro to my setup for this, as it can learn RF signals, but is there something better/easier to integrate with Alexa? Will Sonoff RF Bridge be a better option?

There's a recent video by Drzzzzzz where he basically concluded the broadlink RM pro is rubbish for RF and you'd be better off getting broadlink RM mini's for IR and the sonoff for RF.
 
I'm going to investigate the Stringify and IFTTT integration.... it might be simple enough for the SO to vaguely understand because HA is so totally over her head that she just shutsdown...
