I did that - put an alarm contact on my garage door. (its also programmed to Alert me if its been left open for longer than five minutes)

I'm sold. Are you using the Sonoff RF alarm sensors? If so, how is the battery life on those? I've read some complaints about the batteries draining after a few days.

Sorry - My alarm is a Paradox alarm - or the same applies.

I also use HA to report my pool run times for the day from a Sonoff POW
 
A bit too advanced for me, but I will see what I can find out

Takes a bit of getting used to - but after awhile everything is quick, you'll see in my screenshot the time is still off for the open time, still need to fix that.
 
Me and the wife both get notifications on my phone when the alarm gets armed/disarmed as well which zone triggers an alarm if it was armed.

Bit different to xrapidx. My side, I use DSC Alarm connected to Openhab, which then uses mqttwarn that pushes to pushbullet. Although looking into something else for the last part.
 
I've done mine both ways, you can also query the alarm status, perform actions, e.g. arm alarm, disarm, open garage. etc.

One day I hope to find an app that allows widgets on the home screen in android. Tried the mqtt ones, but they're not great.

How did you hook up your DSC to the network? Link if you have please.
 
I hooked up my DTS 600 Elite sliding gate motor with the Sonoff 1 channel inching wifi switch earlier and it works fine using the 12V out from the DTS PCB. I'm using eWelink with Alexa.

These DTS motors are very common so I've attached the diagram of how to connect everything below.

Normal magnet and hooked up to what?

Or do you mean actually linked into the alarm as a zone?

By that logic a Tasmota flashed Basic should also work?

Or wouldn’t the 12V be an option then I guess.

No, the Basic won't work. You need a wifi switch that sends a short pulse (the inching function of the Sonoff SV or the 1 chan 5v/12v inching switch) where the circuit closes or opens just long enough to activate the required function.
 
Bah! Never even considered Telegram would work I just opted for the easy Pushbullet I already used before for something else.

Guessing you have the IP150 then?

Just a normal door contact on the garage door - and yes, I've got an IP150, the older one that still works.

I think its also possible, and probably easier, to interface via a serious connection.

Tasmota firmware has a pulsetime option, that adds the same inching functionality to any non-inching Sonoff.
Thats why I can use the Sonoff SV on my garage door.

The basic can work, but you have to modify it. You have 1 of 2 options:
1. Power it using 3.3v same as you would do when flashing it. Though I have not tested this or seen guides on this method.
2. People saw into the PCB, to disconnect the 220v input from the relay, which then allows you to have it act as a button without sending the 220v to your garage door button input.

For the amount of work to make the basic work, I just went the Sonoff SV route.

My advice:
Sonoff inching switch if you want to use ewe link.
Sonoff SV if you want to use Tasmota firmware.

Yeah I'm actually going to try the serious connection today to see if mine will interact with the various software out there.

It works on 3.3v through the PIN outs you use for flashing I'm guessing?

I guess 12V from the garage auxiliary won't be an option though as it can't even handle the 5.5v flashers.

Will probably just pick up a few SV's and make my life easier. But first need to tackle the alarm because without that it's all pointless.

Well I can hack job all of it through an existing remote but want to avoid that.
