Come to think of it if your Sonoff SV or whatever you choose is in proximity surely you could just wire one of these cheap as chips magnetic door alarm jobbies into it with a wire and configure it as a switch?

With the garage opener it will be easy enough by the motor to line it up with something. My front game would be a bit more challenging but not impossible.

No fancy wireless stuff with batteries and what not required.

Still can't attempt that before I get the alarm thing sorted out.

100%. I am doing a reed switch, same as magnetic switch for alarm on door to my Sonoff SV. Exactly like this

I hope it works out. There are many complaints about Pargo. My buddy used them for a while for his business but gave up due to unreliability. Hopefully they've ironed out their problems.

Well you're not limited - you can still use door-to-door. However, any issues with Pargo then let me know.

You also get what you pay for. Pargo is at least not SAPO.
 
very cool thread, just recently started automating my house, so will be checking in here.

Using Sonoff Touch Switches for some of my indoor lights, and will try and do some of the outdoor lights using normal wifi switches.

Also using the Broadlink RM Mini 3 to control TVs, Amps, and aircons.

Next project will be to automate garage door(looking at Sonoff SV Inching)
 
Want to put a POW2 on my geyser, but the geyser is outside - and there's a breaker switch there - first question - before or after the breaker switch? Then - any tips to making sure its water proof?

Going to also put a POW I have lying around on the washing machine.

Trying to figure out where my power is going - spending approximately 2k a month.

Id put it after the breaker, so you can isolate it if you need to sort something out.
sonoff have the waterproof enclosures, just check if the pow modules will fit in them

Sonoff IP66 Waterproof Case R105.00 incl VAT (just be careful of sites selling retail without VAT)

And yes the POW R2 will fit, they're built for the POW R2/Dual/TH16 devices (though the Basic and smaller devices fit loosely).

Smartkit are the experts in anything Sonoff (including legal installations) - so feel free to ask here!

Just note the POW R2 has overload protection (though I would still put it after the breaker) - and in a week or two ICASA approval! :)

We're getting in our samples - but we have been asked to distribute Broadlink in SA. Exciting times :-)
 
Ok, so do you think the Shelly 32A / 230V switch (with integrated precise power meter and LED screen) would work well on geysers?

The Shelly 1 and 2 are already supported by Tasmota.
