Anyone using a Broadlink rm pro with HA? Thinking it might be better for my use case over the Sonoff (I have a room where I need control over 3x IR devices)

The latest eWeLink update v3.12.0 for iOS states that opening AND closing of the door sensor can be used as a trigger condition. If I recall correctly, the door sensors could previously only report on opening state?

The official Sonoff RF ones? Yeah, they only report one STATE - OPEN.

Silly question - but you're WiFi range ?

I had one that kept falling off my WiFi (it was only meters from the other!) ... and it turned out that right in that spot, my WiFi signal was dead.

I had to rearrange my mesh nodes

Where can one get a Z-Wave Gateway in SA? Been searching high & low so I can get started in HA.

PS. Does anyone know if a DIY HA alarm system would be considered an 'alarm system' by insurance?

Depends on insurer.

They are more interested in the armed response than the alarm itself. So as long as it supports that I don’t see why it would be a problem.

However you’ll like find an “eish, what is this Home Assistant thing” response in most cases.

Also rather than struggling/waiting for local just import whatever you need. I’m sure Banggood can sort you out and it will be cheap cheap and here in two-three weeks.

@phaktza or @Dolby how goes the process with the Shelly guys? Have they returned from their retarded holiday and all that yet?

... and to add to the the above, they don't have all the required certification in place, for every product they do.

ICASA have specific documents they'd like vendor to supply - and if a vendor doesn't have, they won't allow the items in country legitimately.

If you want to add Z-Wave based sensors to HA, you could take a look at the Aeon Labs USB stick. Much cheaper than a Z-Wave hub.

straight unobstructed line of sight and within 5m of router. as you can see my lounge lamp has full signal - the humidity sonoff unit is closer to the router than the lounge lamp sonoff unit - my pool pump is the furthest away at 16m plus a few house walls in between.

don't think it's range. I even switched off my alexa during the process as I had issues with it with my previous wifi setup. I have installed cat6 cable to run my both tv's and get them off the wifi network as I found with my old telkom wifi router that having 1 x android intelybox / 1 x mi box / 1 x alexa / 1 x cell phone caused problems with alexa.

Just get a unifi setup

50 to 80 devices per AP

Hi Guys

Does the Sonof light switches work with the Google Assistant, voice commands? I keeps saying something like the light has not been setup yet.

Any advice?

Did you switch off 5ghz? Or run it on a different SSID.

Also make sure to not use auto channel and force it to Channel 1-11. Don’t use 12 or 13 if you can help it.

Being too close can sometimes be bad, but 5m isn’t that close.

I had endless kak with that Sonoff app when I tried it so just gave up and went Tasmota.

Hi @phaktza , I sent you a DM.
Wanted to know if you have any of those 2 gang light switches that doesn't require a live wire, i think.
All i know is that one of the wires is not a requirement as this is why I can't install the other switch either.

not sure what the new vox fibre wifi router is running on 2.4Ghz or 5Ghz - but seen that all my other sonoff units work fine I assume it's 2,4Ghz.

the app sees the unit but it says it's offline

they're certainly not the easiest to connect to the network that's for sure
