@SAguy, also keen to flash the Sonoff L1 led light strips, but I think this is a bit more difficult as it has another "chip" that acts as a serial chip or somthing like that. Other thing I was thinking of is to get a different controller and use it with the Sonoff strip, that way if you want to go back it's easy.

Correct. You can also add the humidity and temp sensor.
Aw crud. Bought a 3 mini from takealot last night.
Just return when delivered. Or send back after delivery.
Is it only the support for external sensors difference between the mini 3 and 4? And then of course the cost?

I also ordered a rm4c but any idea where you can get the hts2 sensor from? Banggood does not have any.
OK thanks. Then I don't mind too much buying it from Takealot -- I don't have anything else I needed to buy from Banggood at the moment and I don't want to waste my 3 annual imports on just one item.
Also plan on putting it into HA and I have plenty of sensors in there.

I don’t think anything from Banggood gets tracked against your three annual imports.

Nope, if it's over R500 you need to provide your ID number or importers code.
My past 2 Banggood orders required it.
I would suggest just getting the importers code. It's free and avoids all this hassle, you just need to fill in the forms and drop it off. The customs offices isn't busy like the others (might be now due to the lockdown backlog though).

Which shipping option though?
I’m convinced for some of those options they literally have a Chinese person at customs intercepting packages.
I’ve had a number over the last year well in excess of R500 and well beyond three orders and never been asked for ID or anything.
I have however been asked for it everywhere else like Amazon etc.
