I would suggest just getting the importers code. It's free and avoids all this hassle, you just need to fill in the forms and drop it off. The customs offices isn't busy like the others (might be now due to the lockdown backlog though).

I cant even access the site to download. Trued now couple of times over 3 weeks.

Have quite a few items coming in from Europe and US plus of course Banggood .

So worried issue of importers code may arise.

So none of the Chinese doorbells can send video through Hass.

I wonder which other doorbells can do it.

How they work for battery operated doorbells. is that the WiFi switches off until movement is detected. The doorbell will send a rf433 MHz signal to the chime. Then the WiFi gets activated and connects through the cloud service for a second alert and video.

Depends on the doorbell - the one I had was powered, you could access the video feed via rtsp.
 
I just used a Xiaomi switch and when that is pressed it chimes the google homes and then sends a pushbullet alert with a frame of the CCTV feed from the camera that faces the door. Full video would be cool with 2 way audio but I have not looked that far.

Is it weather proof?

My intercom area is exposed to the elements. Had an intercom that's completely busted now, will just go smart.

The wiring is there but not sure if it still working

Not weatherproof but it has lived outdoors for over 2 years without issue. It is however under some cover.

I know its not local, but my wife added some to her shopping from banggood (and they're shipping to SA with Buffalo) - ended up about R150 landed each - They weren't the most stable, so I flashed them with Tasmota - and been working fine since.

Wasn't the easiest getting configured right with Tasmota - but - got it about 90% right.

The strips I have lying around are basic warm white. Might as well just order these.
 
Banggood order with buffalo. Ordered on 26 may should be delivered today or Monday.

Pretty happy with the service/shipping.

The controller is R150 with the strip R200 to R250. Will order a few with RGB strips.

Want these for the kitchen softlighting.
