Just a thought, not sure if anyone has an idea on the feasibility or what would happen:

Sonoff Mini's have an S1 and S2, what if I had multiple mini's and connect all their S1's to one common wire that goes to a light switch, and S2 each of course on a different gang on the switch.

Could this theoretically work?

2 things... Doing this would mean less wiring down the conduit to a light switch, and also many light switches only have one live input for common - limiting your lightswitch options.
 
Anyone else here using Sonoff Mini's on Tasmota and getting unreliable switching when using a physical switch connected to S1 and S2? I have 3 mini's all next to each other, 2 of them are working fine and one is unreliable... sometimes switches on, sometimes not. It always works via HA and Tasmota web gui, but the physical switch is the issue.

Seems I'm not the only one, when looking at forums:

Got my capacitors at Communica, will revert back on whether it improves the situation.

Anyone thought about fully automating their pool.

Basically use a raspberry pi to control
- filtering
- lights
- chlorine level with dispensing.
- temperature
- rinse, backwash and waste
- heating

Shouldn't be too difficult to build

You can use solenoid valves to control the different filter functions , but at R1k each it's pricey . The pi should be able to do the rest

filtering (running) and lights are simple.

not sure i would want to manage backwash and rinse that way. Chemical dispensing could be difficult and prove to be risky. the temp/heating issue imo isnt a factor, even if it was i would hazard a guess ti would be solar, which imo you dont have that much control over other than maybe shutting off a valve.

Yea I have the pump and light running on Shelly's.

I always forget to backwash. Perhaps also pressure sensors to give an indication when baskets are full.

Pressure sensor could indicate a full basket or need to backwash. More likely backwash. You need to unplug creepy to backwash anyway so there is still manual intervention. Imo whilst the idea sounds good, in practise it isn't worth it

With a robotic pool cleaner, there is no need to unplug the creepy.

This has the basics covered with I think.

 
Both this smart pool chemical thing and the smart water meter on takealot use sigfox, I know HA has a sigfox plugin - but I wonder if that requires backend access to sigfox, which end users of these devices won't have.

I only want stuff I can get into HA.

Pool has been blue now for a year, am running a salt chlorinator so I think that helps.

ok so then at least chlorination isnt an issue for you. You should really unplug it, if the pool is clean its no big deal i guess, but it does restrict water flow and make the pump work harder
 
why? it isnt about the type of cleaner but rather the filter?
A robotic cleaner has its own filters that you have to clean. It is not connected to the weir. Therefor the weir basket doesn't have to be cleaned that often. Depending on the amount of leaves you get in your pool, you could easily go a month without cleaning the weir basket.
