Ordered light switches from Qualitel. They look so pretty.

Ordered a Sonoff with power monitor and when that arrives, I will check with a sparky to have everything installed. Neutrals + Switches and Sonoff + Contactor.

Seldom that you see something "Assembled in RSA" these days.

I take it they're fully compatible with our switch boxes? Are you going to try and flash them?

Jip, I was quite surprised. Thought it would be generic Chinese import or maybe they are just re boxed with a sticker slapped on.

They should be compatible. Will find out when they are installed.

Not flashing them for now.

its very likely just stickers, if you order above a certain quantity from a factory they will happily brand it for you

What's the pricing like?

So still looking what to use for my geyser, and this switch looks to be the cleanest of them all. Wonder if you can tasmotify it, since it has the tuya logo on and it is 25A!

This might be the same one?

Awesome thanks, that links to another version/brand on banggood which I am now more willing to try, if I can find the 25A version.

It's a risk that you might have to take, and also be aware that they flashed it with serial (meaning you will have to open it). No idea whether Tuya-convert might work here or not.

It would be even better if you could find one with power monitoring - I'm looking for something like it too!

I took a chance with the Tuya based smart-plugs by looking at pictures and finding one on the Tasmota Template site that looked similar. If the similar-looking one was flashable, I figured it is probably a white-labeled version with different plugs for different parts of the world and the SA version would be flashable too. At that point I decided to buy one and take the chance. So far it worked well.

Yeah I think I am going to pull the trigger on this. I would love power metering on it...but ah well there is another solution I would probably use instead for power monitoring. I really need a good solution for turning the geyser on/off and this looks clean and I like it.

You can use the Shelly EM for average power monitoring with a contactor, it wont be as accurate as the POW R2 but it will be safe and the closest to what you want.

I've already ordered the Sonoff and will be getting it tomorrow. Sparkie has Contactors. What functions will I get? Power usage not that important. I mainly want it for scheduling on and off.
