I have the sonoff SV tasmota version connected to a centurion d5 and everything was working fine until load shedding.

After load shedding happens it starts triggering like crazy opening and closing the gate until the WiFi starts working on the unifi/switch/ AP which takes some time.

Now this is a security risk until I can get it sorted out.

Any setting that I should check?
Did you have to install an additional relay NT72C or similar with the Sonoff SV?
 
Just use the onboard gpio pins

1 for triggering gate
1 for reed switch
1 connected to intercom button for bell press
 
My sv is powered by the gate 12v out. Maybe try that
So my SV is powered on , when load shedding kicks in, it's connected to the battery directly. I will check this but don't think it would change behaviour. Thankfully I have never had the phantom opening, closing occuring on my SVs connected to garage and gate.

Incidentally, both garage and gate SV have identical configs, and connected directly to batteries , but garage doesn't do that crazy thing. As a test, I will put another magnet half way up the garage track and drop power to see if mimics the gate. This weekend's experiment

Today, I have also upgraded them to tasmota 8.5.0 (previous 8.2.0) - will see what happens.
 
Mine to the same thing. After load-shedding it seems that they struggle to make a decent connection to the AP, and every time it losses a connection to the AP it cycles the relay. So far the only solution has been to gracefully shut everything down and restart everything again. The Sonoffs shouldn't shut down during loadshedding as they are powered through gate batteries but they might be seeing some voltage fluctuations.
Being simple devices, what I'm gonna do now is set up a very basic AP just for the Sonoffs. 2.4ghz only 802.11g, no channel hoping and no additional features to improve wireless performance. Will see how it goes.

The cycling of the relay is new -- I haven't heard of this before. I definitely have 12v and normal 220v Sonoffs, on various tasmota versions that used to die when loadshedding hit, only to come back after power is restored.

I agree with @blueowl , definitely check all of these:
1) PowerOnState 0
2) WifiConfig 5 <-- the default is actually a pretty major security risk, as it creates an AP when your wifi is down, which can then be used by anybody to connect to your device and open up the gate from the web admin
3) MQTT retain <-- this can do weird unexpected things. Remember, if you sent just one message using retain, it is retained. So if you configured Home Assistant to use retain, and then remove it, just remember that the last message HA sent with retain is still retained. But this should only be an issue one it connects to your MQTT broker.
4) Check out some of the Tasmota reset-after-powerloss features. You might want to disable some of those (https://github.com/arendst/Tasmota/issues/4066, https://tasmota.github.io/docs/Devi...n1 ) down,everything is starting from scratch. )
 
My wifi is on an inverter and stays available right through loadshedding and power outages. I may have some sonoffs die during loadshedding, but never the wifi! Internet stays online too mostly, except for Vumatel but this is a rant for another thread.
 
Yup... Many times..

They world great for solid core cable, stranded cable not so much.

They still work ok with heavier stranded cable (i.e. a couple of solid cores, such as 10A or 16A wire), but not with a lot of copper strands.

If so, how much would about 15 devices draw?

Have you guys seen a noticeable difference in power consumption?

For example, I connected a POW R2 to my kitchen appliances plug. Noticed, when everything was 'off', 6W was being drawn. It appears my washing machine uses that while it is off. Now thanks to SONOFF, that plug is only turned on when we need to use it.

This is what 6w (that you don't know about) uses over a month/year

But I meant it would be 15w for the lot of them at about 1w each which is less than one old school downlight.

Paying a 50Kw a year loss for convenience isn’t so bad for me.

Oops, my comment wasn't on the fact that 15 pows would use about 15w , but that putting these things would show unintended hidden usage , which can provide more savings that before.

My pows have saved me so much already due to the insights they provide.

Thing for their cost to implement you’ve got many years before you break even with what you would have lost on vampire trickle.
 
Arduino + Ultrasonic sensor installed in my water tank, and Sonoff POW on the wellpoint pump - my tank and irrigation is now fully automated.

Couple of minor glitches with the sensor readings, doesn't seem to like it when the server goes down - or the MQTT broker restarts.
