Internet isn't key for my setup.it's all self contained.
If I lose wifi I have bigger problems ;)

You'll change your opinion once you use it.

It's much more reliable to make your own (either on your landing or hosted on a VPS) MQTT server.
 
Well good news, by adding the resistor (didn't use the capacitor) to the Sonoff basic, I no longer have ghost switching. Rolling out to the other bedside lamp now and programed in some wakeup light with a HA workday binary sensor.

Yes, timers are stored locally on the devices. forgot about that.
Temperature I'm not sure. Probably. But scenes won't work.

I would do scenes through HomeKit anyway so that’s kind of why I’m asking these questions.

But the OEM firmware thing for Homebridge also seems a bit of a hack so might as well flip the firmware.

Maybe I should start selling Sonoffs that are already flashed. :)

Good to hear, can you share the details of the resistor and where it's wired in?

Yes, it happens because the voltage is floating. You need to either pull the signal up or down by using a pullup/pulldown resistor.

And Google Assistant cloud support now working with HA. I've just noticed that my naming of devices is rather terrible.
 
So if the Sonoff loses power does it return to it’s last state or does it just remain off?

Thinking specifically around a parallel connection to the wall switch for my ceiling fans in the bathroom bridged to the lights.

Could get them to shut the hell up based on humidity if they defaulted to an off state.

I’m finding Home Assistant very flakey with the Yeelight.

Give it 24h and then it’s very slow to update and confuses the modes on the units.

No such issues on Homebridge.

On the RF switch (and I assume the Basic and others) I learned here that you can select the power on state to be On, Off or Keep (ie whatever the state was when power was removed).

I don't have any issues with Yeelight, probably the most stable platform I'm using with Home-Asssitant
