I was lucky, I had a neutral coming down in the switch directly behind the one I wanted to replace so I was able to pull it from there. Electrical wise I found the T1 to be of decent quality, I could tighten the screws nicely without worrying I'd strip or break anything.

My biggest issue is the way the switch mounts to the plastic bracket. You screw in a small bracket and then push the switch and faceplate into place. 4 clips are supposed to keep the face in place. In order for this to work there can be no give behind the bracket, so your bracket must sit snugly against the wall when tightened. If the hole in your wall is not the right size, or perfectly flush - then you are going to have a tough time fitting the switch on. I eventually gave up because it got dark, so will make a plan on Saturday morning.

The switching on/off of the relay gives a nice click which gives you that tactile confirmation/satisfaction when turning the light on/off at the wall switch.

Other than the fitting the only thing that annoyed me a bit was connecting it to my wifi - I have 5.0ghz and 2.4ghz broadcast on the same SSID. All other devices in my house, old and new, handle this setup well and know which band to connect to. I had to switch off my 5.0ghz band, connect the sonoff and then switch on the 5.0ghz again. All seems to be working well so far for the last hour. Google Home setup also working nicely with switching lights on/off.

Pretty happy - just need to get my hands a bit dirty getting it fitted nicely. Standing about 1cm away from the wall at the moment.

Yeah - this is a known issue with Sonoff devices.
 
Dolby, you guys have stock of the T1?

Also, do you only need one neutral irrespective of whether it's a 1, 2 or 3 gang plate?

How I left it last night just to get it all together. I am thinking of putting a few washers (or nuts if I can get the right size/thread) on that screw thread behind the bracket and tightening down the bracket onto that.

Will need to clean up and touch up a bit when done, it's maybe a few mm smaller than my original lightswitch.

Was just keen to get it in and on last night, will make it nicer the weekend.

Edit: How do I rotate these images? They aren't like this on my pc.

Only one neutral and one live input only. The neutral doesn't feed through to the lights, it's just to power the switch itself.

Only one 1-gang left in stock - there are more on the way (hopefully next week). Please place an order otherwise they may be snapped up before you get a chance.

The neutral cable is for the WiFi only - you don't need a neutral out.

EDIT: looks like they left Hong Kong this morning!

Hmmm those pictures do not fill me with confidence in terms of making the switches sit nice and flush with the wall....

Def think Sonoff need to work on that aspect of the switches...

I've imported a remote from Banggood to check for compatibility - I will let you know how it goes (if it ever arrives :/)

It may just be me that was too impatient last night to start playing - I'll mess around a bit this weekend, but I do think a face that actually screws down would have been a lot more secure. Even if I do manage to get it sitting nice and flush, anyone can just pull it off the wall, or knock it out if they brush up against it too hard with their shoulders.

Yeah, that is my concern as well...

Hopefully over time they will fix those issues..

I've checked the switch - I think the insinuation was that the neutral is required because the "always on" WiFi draws more power than a battery could provide. The switch itself needs power - in this instance it would be from the mains, as well.
 
What I do like about the T1 is that it works even if there is no wifi at all, just as a replacement touch screen switch. It was working the instant I had it connected, no setup needed at all for ti to function as a switch.

Increases the wife approval factor quite nicely

This is really amazing, can't find anyone else who does this and for such a ridiculously cheap price!

CHALLENGE: would you be open to extending this service and having the option to flash the extended Sonoff products? I'm picturing a Utopian future where I order some T1's and B1's and POW's etc and unwrapping the package and immediately getting cracking setting up the devices in HA. This would be bliss.

Yes, I'm open to flashing any of the available products - the Basics are just a trial (so others by request at the moment). The reason we can do it cheap is because we're supplying the products - we mostly make money from you buying from Smartkit and not someone else!

Please note: any changes to the firmware will invalidate any potential future warranty.
 
Remember when you pre flash to put a default ssid and password in, and pass those on to the user :)
