Home Automation - Smartkit

Mine is running well on the dog old PC running unraid, but that machine is so busy its abit tight on ram.
I know others buy Intel NUC's when the job is abit much for a Pi.

Was this always the case with the Pi, or only started recently?
If you ask me, its probably signs that your SDcard is on the way out. Remember, if it goes bad, they dont tell the linux kernel there is issues. It kinda just says the write was "ok" but then its lost. All things you mention sounds like signs of a SDcard going to heaven.

SDcard is not a long term solution unfortunatley, I would recommend running your automation setup off something more reliable, like usb drive(proper drive on usb) or alternatively look for something where you can use a mSATA card (not version2) as you main drive on the Pi.

That's like 12A isn't it? And the POW is 16A... Plug the hairdryer in at the same time - stress test it for all of us!

My raspbian pi has been up for maybe a year. Powered from my alarm battery.

New Pi and SD Card (well - three/four months old)... started last week while we were on leave, think a fresh install might fix it as I've been trying various things to get stuff working 100%. Now all the devices are stable...and the Pi isnt :p

Mine was stable for a few months, literally started last week.

That's exactly what it is :)

Ha graphing is all there but I find it slow and clumsy so I've hacked together an mrtg setup that extracts the data from the mqtt messages the unit sends.
Only doing instantaneous amps at the moment, will probably tweak it to do watts soon as that will give a better continuous graph.

Sorry its 2800w in startup, so a few more amps. But I can turn the tumble dryer down to 10amp mode if it feels abit excessive. Doesnt run on max power for very long thought.
 
Is there anything that will work with my geyser and Home Assistant?
Sonoff seems to do max of 16A?
 
I just realized, with my issue - before I left I started recording video from one of the security camera's to the SD card, had some serious issues with time-outs and corrupt video - so maybe it is the SD card, and I've stuffed it up further with video writes.

Going to try and write the video to the NAS and see if it stabilizes - but had some serious issues getting it working in Home-Assistant.

Was actually more looking for a POW type switch for the geyser to monitor consumption using HA, and also those times where we go away for a while - to switch the geyser on and off.

Writing graph updates using homeassisnt, would take a year to cause the SDcard to stop working. Video probably a lot quicker.
Whats the issue of doing video to the NAS? You should be able to mount a share and it would seem like just another folder to homeassistant, unless there is a problem with permissions.

Kept having permission, or various other issues on the home-assistant side, even when I gave public full access to the folder, it wouldn't work. I eventually got it working by changing motion to write to the home-assistant folder, but still had to "hack" it with a input_text field on home assistant.

For that I use Efergy. It intergrated into HA.
