Sorry I didn’t mean that it should natively decode.

Mine is just a wee bit too pap to direct stream some things.

If your source can’t Direct Play you are getting 1080p from Plex anyway which is why it murders just about any system.

And make sure your subtitles are text based and not image otherwise it forces burning them in which also means transcoding.
4k HEVC Linux iso to Roku 3 to 1080p TV. I have another 4k TV with a Roku Ultra but I must still try that particular iso on that setup. Also have a RPI 3 but very much doubt that can do 4k at all.

Aaah yes with a 1080p tv end point I can see it forcing transcoding for no good reason.

I realised last night that after fiddling with my Plex docker I wasn’t transcoding in RAM and fixing that has all my Remuxed Linux ISO’s Direct Playing to Plex happily.

I don't think the Pi will be able to output 4k, even if it could play it?

True, but i think encoding is the "hard part" as the algorithms are designed so decoding can be done in real time. Transcoding of course involves both. For a pi to play 4k it just has to decode it and then scale the uncompressed picture to the display resolution.

Why can't I input a decimal value in the power setting threshold menu?

My led lamp only uses 0.05amps Screenshot_2018-06-05-20-17-03.jpeg

Use the power threshold instead. 1w is 0.005 amps or thereabouts

Stock, stock, stock - we have lots more stock.

Plenty of Sonoff POW R2s, as well!

Need to get my arse into gear and flash the firmware on my existing Sonoff units...

Tried with my laptop last weekend, but all the corporate stuff on it just got in the way :(

So my home automation server needs some more beef. With me loading more docker containers for other stuff, the little microserver is starting to take strain.

Seeing if I can swing an old decommissioned/depreciated Dell PowerEdge from work stores ... /hold thumbs

Mine at about 8% CPU with everything running including motion.
