I see they've upgraded the firmware to 1.8.1 ... Anyone able to find release notes or anything added?

As usual with hobby electronics stuff I don't have the one small part I need... In this case some SIL male headers...

If you can run a VM you can do anything.

Just saying. :)

The security stuff that gets installed even injects itself into that world....

Its very pervasive... but understandably so even though its highly annoying when I want to do stupid shyte like flashing Sonoff units :)

Not if the hardware resources are not available to the host os... (eg blocked USB ports)

Yeah sure if you have those limits then you are buggered.

In my case I can at least access USB but it’s for forced encryption.

Enter the VM.

The joke though is that in the modern world nobody cares for USB when there are cloud services...and I have access to all of them.

Hi,

I purchased 4 Sonoff Basic units, with Tasmota software last week, however, I am struggling with these devices.

I have them connected to my network, and they are stable on the network, however, as soon as I add the MQTT configuration, the devices will not stay connected on the network. Below a ping:

64 bytes from 192.168.1.167: icmp_seq=3239 ttl=128 time=4.355 ms
64 bytes from 192.168.1.167: icmp_seq=3240 ttl=128 time=2.536 ms Request timeout for icmp_seq 3241
64 bytes from 192.168.1.167: icmp_seq=3242 ttl=128 time=11.795 ms
64 bytes from 192.168.1.167: icmp_seq=3243 ttl=128 time=14.062 ms Request timeout for icmp_seq 3244
64 bytes from 192.168.1.167: icmp_seq=3245 ttl=128 time=17.718 ms
64 bytes from 192.168.1.167: icmp_seq=3246 ttl=128 time=17.566 ms Request timeout for icmp_seq 3247 Request timeout for icmp_seq 3248
64 bytes from 192.168.1.167: icmp_seq=3249 ttl=128 time=16.131 ms Request timeout for icmp_seq 3250 Request timeout for icmp_seq 3251
64 bytes from 192.168.1.167: icmp_seq=3252 ttl=128 time=175.425 ms Request timeout for icmp_seq 3253 Request timeout for icmp_seq 3254

I have tried this with 2 of the devices so far, and the same behaviour persists across devices.

I haven't really made use of MQTT - does anyone have any ideas?

Odd. Mine are rock solid with mqtt.
How's the wifi signal strength?

Hmm I left mine on 5.9.1 (the 2 actively in use) and only added a newer version to the one where the glass broke.

And MyBB forumites still get the 10% discount with the coupon code MYBROADBAND. The exchange rate has crept up again, so we won't be seeing this price on the next batch.
