Since moving my home-assistant installation (and various other things) to the HP microserver I haven't had a single issue, much more stable than the Pi.

Just wish I could get motion working with telegram :(

phaktza it’s a bit bull**** that you only state there is no warranty offered on Sonoff items AFTER already taking my money and shipping the product out.

Had I known that beforehand I would have ordered from Banggood instead for not all that much more money and couriered to my door, but instead I figured why not support local.

Now I ask myself why I fell for the local is lekker sham once again.

Also...I hope nothing goes wrong because within 6 months the CPA is going to very strongly disagree with you on that statement of no returns under any circumstances.

Hi Sauron.

To date we've repaired, returned or replaced every single faulty Sonoff device - of which there have been few.

We do not have a returns policy from China, as such this is merely a precaution.

We're reasonable people who try to keep our customers happy - next time, just ask :)

FYI, I ordered a Sonoff on Banggood in April - it has yet to arrive.

Presumably you were on hassio before and now just running the bare docker image? Or do you have hassio in a VM?

Don't you miss the hassio stuff? Mainly how do you edit config now? Editing inside the interface seems much nicer than what I do now which is over a shared appdata folder then manually reloading in the interface.

Never had hassio. Was running an installation on hassbian.

But, yes, I edit the config files directly, gotten quite used to it, so it's quick. Just a pain in the arse if you screw up indentation in a large script

Fair enough. Just bear in mind that a statement such as that is against the CPA.

FYI, I ordered a Sonoff on Banggood in April - it has yet to arrive.

Yeah if you don’t use a courier and leave it at the mercy of SAPO that will happen.

Otherwise it takes 10 days.

Learn to SSH and Vi.

Much simpler....once you know how.

Vi is horrible, prefer nano.

I also prefer editing the files directly as I can generate the "code" using Excel :p e.g. for all the alarm sensors.

:crylaugh::crylaugh::crylaugh:

I learn't how to SSH and vi 20+ years ago :) Doesn't mean it's not horrible.

Much better/simpler/faster than connecting and editing a shared folder I reckon.

And there’s always nano if vi isn’t your cup of tea.

Nope it hasn’t arrived yet.

I just deeply dislike the manner in which it’s done.

Thats some hard comments for a small company which has supported this tiny community really well with good prices and service. You not buying from Incredible Connection here.

Surely all your scripts are in github though, of course ;)

Exactly why I made the statement as I can actually get through to the owners and rectify the behaviour...whereas with the likes of Incredible Connection you can bark all you want and get nowhere.

A small business should take criticism in it's stride and respond accordingly.

FYI : Dolby and I had a chat via PM and they are making a plan to show the warning up front when ordering, as much as that's still against CPA regulation.

It's no big drama if they ultimately do replace units as they've stated, but then one has to ponder why the warning in the first place if it's really inconsequential.

I used to believe the same until I really got familiar with vi/vim and it's infinitely more powerful.

Also when you work on systems where you have no choice but to use vi then you'll very quickly realise nano ain't all that.

vi is not for quitters.

vi is user friendly. Just fkn picky about its friends.
