Home Automation - Smartkit

nano is ok.
vi does work.

But I got lazy and now use remote atom script. Edit in atom on desktop locally but file really is on the remote machine.

Have any of you done any automations in Home Assitant based on realish time weather data? Specifically temperature.

The built in Yr seems to use predication not real data and is therefore completely wrong.

Replaced yr with dark sky just for tracking and it does give a forecast and actual figures. Haven't linked any automation to it yet.

Was using darksky and the pool pump.. not to come on when cloudy. That was before my install bombed.

Cool.

Settled on Openweather but wil check out Dark Sky too.

I've played around with Openweather on my Pebble watch before and found it extremely inaccurate.

Found weather underground the most reliable, but not sure if they have integration with HA.

They do but you seemingly need to pay for it.

Dark Sky is showing up in HomeKit but not allowing me to use it as an Automation sensor but it’s probably just a configuration thing.

Either way can just run the automation through HA then.

That's unfortunate - used to be free when I got my key.

Yeah it’s for new registrations only it seems.

Everyone else just has a daily limit on their free accounts which is fine.

But Darksky does the job for now. Fiddled with a fake heater on an auto thermostat using the outside temp.

Works lekker except need to figure out time schedules for it. Might just need it inside a normal automation.

I see here they stopped the free keys on 15 May 2018, which is literally just over a month ago. Sad. Lucky I registered mine in 2015 May already, back when I needed it for weather underground in Kodi(XBMC back then).

Looks awesome until you see that the control alone will cost the same as an average bathroom renovation.
Well I was going to use Hans grohe thermostatic mixers x 2 as I have 2 shower heads and 2 hand showers in main bath. Those mixers work out to approximately R17k

If I buy this in 4 controller I'm looking at about R25k. Is the R8k worth it.

Also note it has a lifetime warranty.

Do you regularly sit in the living room, fully clothed, drinking coffee and feel the need to adjust your shower temperature?
