Just let the sonoff switch a contactor and you controll any load.
 
Do you get contactors that are 240v controlled?

In this case the pow wouldn’t make sense I guess since you'd just be measuring how much the contactor consumes.
 
For geyser switch, I think what you rather want is something like this:

Available in most stores, even Makro:

Then installed into your DB board it looks like this:

Downside to that is, you won't be controlling it remotely. I haven't yet found something that works like the above and is available remotely. Doesn't mean it doesn't exist, just haven't found the perfect solution yet.

Qwikswitch does has a 30A switch but you'd have to buy the hub. Smartkit can offer a discounted price on all QS products.

We will also be offering a full on photovoltaic solar option with control for existing non-solar geysers from next year.

I had bought two of them on special before I moved into my house. Sadly the DB board doesn't have space to mount them so I am hoping a sonoff with contactor both in roof could do the job.

@Dolby: do you know if a sonoff can handle the heat of a roof??

Sonoff Operating Temp.: 0℃~40℃

I'm not sure what temperature you're expecting in your roof, but this should be sufficient for most use cases.

FYI Sonoff POW Operating Humidity: *5%~90%RH, Non-condensing

Eish doesn't it become hotter than 40% in the roof? Some days it approaches 40 in the shade - can just imagine a roof!
 
Sonoff has been pretty terrible recently - or rather, the eWeLink service. It has been down 3 times in the last four days. The app doesn't load so you have to turn on/off all your sonoffs by hand.

I thought for a brief moment by having the app and IFTTT support that it would suffice, but seeing how useless they are without the cloud support I'm pretty sure that I am going to flash other firmware.
 
Has the eWeLink stuff been a bit more stable over the last few days?
 
I'm getting IFTTT issues. :(

The rest (GHome and the eWeLink email itself) works fine.

My side is down again... "Network unavailable" Good thing I'm only using them as a trial.

That Control by LAN is extremely flakey. I have no idea why they don't just allow it. Can't be tough!

All over their own forum too
 
App is fine here. Google Home works fine. IFTTT still down - internal server error 500.

I find their app sufficient for my needs but I do need some way to integrate into other services, which ifttt was. Lan control will make perfect sense since Openhab or HomeAssist bindings should be easy.
 
I can see my devices in the app - and their power status - but I can't control them - when you go to the individual devices, it says "Network unavailable", but still reports the correct status, signing in and out does nothing.

So I eventually got some time the last couple of days to look a bit more into Sonoffs and home automation. I installed HomeAssistant as a Docker app on my unRaid microserver (on an APC 1400VA UPS), flashed Tasmota over the air to a Sonoff POW, set up the MQTT connection with the broker built into HomeAssistant and basically it's "working". I also got HA to pick up my Rokus and Plex server. I added my efergy account as well, which at the moment is only monitoring my geyser. I installed a geyser blanket so I'd like to leave it to monitor that a bit longer to see if/how it changes consumption (and then I want to turn down the thermostat a bit and see how that goes). Eventually I'll hook up the efergy properly to the main db board. My house has 4 DBs and you can hook up multiple efergy receiver units to one hub to get a bit more granular power usage information but for now this one will suffice.

The "grand plan" is really to automate and add some intelligence as to when to put things on and off in order to more effectively benefit from and manage a solar power installation in future.

So far so good, getting Tasmota flashed/MQTT running has been fairly easy. Now it's got me thinking about where to put more Sonoffs and possibly just break out some barely used Arduino related goodies.
First thing on the todo list is the pool pump - outside, easy to access, fairly high energy consumer, and a non-essential that can be turned off with little impact. We also want to get solar heating done so it would make sense to tie this in with some intelligence about the sun/weather/current water temp etc.
Another is some LED lighting I have around my bar and inside the cabinets, just because, and they're on small plugs not wired in walls etc.
We have 2 huge chandeliers my son likes to turn on in the middle of the night, so those might get some basics on them soon.
I like the idea of the low voltage sonoff for triggering the garage door. I'm pretty sure I could do something like that opengarage box myself (and for less than $50) and I have all the parts required.
 
Just placed an order with the boys for some basic stuff.

Starting with the pool as well, since i've just replaced the motor and sand filter, it feels like the right time to put a bit of intelligence into the power supply to the system...

Also gonna put some of the outside lights on one of the units and just set it on a schedule for now before I get all fancy with sensors and whatnot :)
