Home Automation - Smartkit

Why not just use the HA notify feature. Goes straight to your home screen. Mine now notified when the gate opens waiting for my camera to come so that I can do the picture as well

Can even set up toggles.
That's what I said, via the HA app? Mine also go to Telegram so I have the history.

Have that but don't like it, no history available on these notifications.

I use them as I find them more convienent than Telegram - but - I also send the stuff to Telegram for "backup"

Another nice feature, I have a Gallery in HA of previous doorbell/motion events. (you can see previous videos and pictures)

These have to be IP based Cameras right? If you have DVR with just RG59, cameras , it's a no go? My DVR supports IP cameras so in my future, perhaps just replace the outside ones with IP and do the same (hopefully)

Really cool implementations, you chaps have !

Mine are currently just IP camera's - I've ordered a cheapie NVR - so want to see whats possible, I've noticed HA starts taking strain with many camera's connected.

Does the DVR have network connectivity?

You should be able to get an RTSP stream from the DVR for the cameras

Anyone here using node-red in a docker container? Thinking of going that way before getting to far down the automations route...

Any benefit NodeRed has over doing it in code?
Yeah, also keen to know. I do all my configuration in yaml, not frontend... makes me more comfortable to be able to backup and restore.

For me specifically the benefit is NOT doing it in code.

But at the same time I do believe it has a lot more functionality or at least make it easier to do many things than directly in HA but I’m not an expert.

Of course it also can integrate with other things if you were to get that hardcore.

Is there a specific image you guys used? Or a guide you followed on integrating the two?

I just use the official one.

Think I originally used that American teacher guy’s videos who has orange over everything whose name or channel I now can’t remember.

But I had a lot of help from here especially since I had the palettes wrong as there were many.
