We currently have Adhesive tiles in our rooms and we now switching to ceramic.

The problem is in my room I have my gym bench and weights (will join a proper gym or so in the future) but I was wondering how to not damage those tiles.

I've seen those black pvc mats but not sure if they will do the job and they quite pricey. Anyone with similar experience or use those mats and find they work well?

Joh, tiles are a cold surface for a bedroom floor. Don't think those clip-together mats will prevent breakage if a barbell falls on it from height.

Those mats work good in my view. Worth it.

How much weight are we talking here though?

Currently I only have 100kgs In total weight. I'm careful as it is when putting the barbell or dumbell down but on ceramic tiles, the smallest hiccup could break the tile. So hoping those mats are a good option and would work

Would a double layer of the mats work?

Doubtful. Just buy enough extra tile to replace everything under the mats. At least you're guaranteed a match.

Maybe add those grey blanket/carpet under the plastic mats
Sometimes we drop the weights unintentionally
