Home security device roundup - May 2023

I've got the Ring doorbell and Ring Indoor Camera (2nd one arriving this week).

Apart from the subscription costs they're great, but without the subscription they kind of suck.

Ai. Terrible article. So the breakins has very little to do with darkness but with school holidays and when people are not at home.

And over the past 20 years I have heard of many a break in and without exception they have been during daylight hours.

People have this perception of crime which is not supported by facts and then do all the "security theater" stuff that is only makes a difference to their psychological state and zero to security.

Yeah, it's that time of year where we all get robbed again..... Tax season.......

wait... what? wrong thread

Cheapest IP Cam?

I just want to start with something. Get any footage when we are not at home.
Must be IP camera since I will backup to cloud and with loadshedding, I cannot run a DVR as well.

All my robberies have been during the day time...around 12 -3pm.

When you put it like that, it sounds like you are then one doing the break ins

However,
Roboguard Wireless Security Beams - FTW as a good early warning detection system
I have an alarm and cameras now....
As well as a high fence with razor wire all over it like a prison...but still they try...

As for the Robo Guards...they stole my mates ones off his farm...He was pretty pissed about that...

The spots they jump over

Fishing line with hooks strategically placed leads to interesting results. (Only if no pets are at risk)

The sound you hear at night may have you thinking it's an elephant giving birth

The cameras were great to let me know how they jump out...from my workshop..onto the roof...then jump over the fence...There is now a nice suprise for them in that landing spot...Think Vietnam war....

Please tell me you caught a fish. I can just imagine.

Last I heard was that criminals actually steal wifi cameras and sensor beams etc, presumably with the intention of returning at some point with no early warning and surveillance equipment to slow them down.

All my robberies have been during the day time...around 12 -3pm.
You're a criminal mastermind, you've clearly timed your criminal activities to coincide with SAPS' KFC site inspections.

I will never kiss Jeff's Ring.

Good that it is working for you though.

Considering that there are several instances in the USA where Ring has given footage (including indoors Ring camera footage) to police without permission and without valid court orders, third world countries don't stand a chance.

Arguably Eufy and Ring are two sides of the same mass surveillance and privacy violation coin.
