Hey guys. I just bought a secondhand belkin wireless access point (model F5D7130 - two antennae) to use as a wireless repeater.:p I know, I am very cheap cheap :D

Anyway of research I discovered that this was possible, but requires some reconfiguring of your router and wireless access point. I'm using the Telkom Mega 200 VWR and have tried to connnect it to the belkin to extend the range of my wifi. Unfortunately I cannot get this to work.

I've tried everything, even called the flipping Belkin tech support (in India...:erm:) just to be told after and hour on the line that what I was attempting to do cannot be done.

Some research though states that it is possible, only nothing specifically explaining how using my router.

So, any wifi fundis out there willing to help a noob out?

You might need to flash new firmware onto your router. I know that with DD-WRT you can set up a router as a repeater. Maybe check it out.

Well, I am truly appreciative of your guys suggestions and research. Unfortunately, after trying everything, I am still unable to connect to the signal being broadcast from the Belkin. It's weird that I can now receive the signal in areas which I could not previously, yet I am unable to connect to this signal.

I am beyond frustrated atm... sigh... wish this was all easier.

Any other suggestions, I seriously welcome them at this point. :D

Quick note: using my iPhone to connect to the Belkin the IP Address is 169.254.156.87, and subnet 255.255.0.0, yet this is different to when I connect to my telkom router. I thought as an extender the info should be the same?

I don't know, help please!!!!!!
