Hi guys

Wonder if any of you can please help me. I had a 4mb line with Webafrica and recently relocated so had to move my services. Now Telkom has a box in my new complex but there are no services running there yet. I need a wireless solution that I can use now that wont cost me an arm and a leg? Any suggestions?

Ask your neighbours for some wifi until they change their password? You can even offer to pay them like R100 or something.

Well i was paying about R329 for my service with Webafrica and another R190 for Telkom so anything from R500?

What is your usage? I mean not sure if I understand you correctly, are you looking for a temporary solution until they install and activate your line?

If so, why not just buy that prepaid bundle from Telkom and use the LTE or 3G until your line is installed ?

Telkom:
SIM + Mi-Fi Router ( 1GB x 12 months, can be used as a back up once the line is activated ) - Once off R1199
Telkom prepaid Data 10GB - Once off R499 ( you will need a telkom sim I assume? )

The thing with Telkom is you can wait months or years for them to install a line, so looking for something that could potentially turn out to be a permanent solution. If i go the wireless route then i have that initial installation cost that's a lot which I'm trying to prevent

I hear you, damn yea that's a difficult one, is there any wisps in your area that you know of?

And now my landlord is also not playing along...he does not want any poles on top of the roof. just great!! Given me the side wall to mount something where the other owners cant see it.There are a few wisps in the area but like i say they all have high installation costs high contention ratios and low bandwidth.

@SAWireless, do you have coverage in the Randburg area in Johannesburg?
