Fair enough it could be read in that light too. I don't know where the claim of a comprehension fail comes form though as you can't deny your statement was ambiguous.

Anyway I'm glad to know that you do know people who don't regard homosexuality as something negative and to be avoided and would still be happy for, accepting and supportive of their children regardless of their sexual orientation... that is true yes? (you would also fall into this category I take it?)

For me it is grouping gay peole with the likes of pedophiles, necrophiliacs and bestiality and frankly it is highly insulting to even try and establish a link between them ... no matter what your motives are.

I think most of us realise that pedophiles and zoophiles have a certain attraction, just like gay or straight people have a certain attraction, but in the end it does come down to consent and harm. I sympathise with pedophiles and zoophiles, but they should not act on their urges. Sex between homosexual or straight people is something that consenting adults do. The same can not be said of pedophiles or zoophiles.

The link is that it is all about sexual attraction and that it isn't something you can consciously control.

He isn't comparing the actual sex acts, just the feeling of attraction. Nobody is actually going to reasonably compare two consenting adults having sex to an adult having sex with a toddler.

It is a very superficial link and it is not the sense it is usually being used in when bigots draw the comparisons though.

I didn't miss the point at all - why is the reaction necessary, or rather unnecessary? The reaction is natural. Or is this a case of sauce only being good for the gander? It's natural for there to be homosexuals, but it's unnatural to react to hearing the news? That parents should never have dreams for their children?

And let me just caveat that for the slow - trying to live vicariously through your children is a problem.

It's like weed leading up to stronger drugs, same thing goes for 'gayness', it leads to pedophilia, necrophilia, bestially and ends up with murder in a snuff movie starring pedophiles, zombies and a dachund :p

Then compare it to the attraction between straight people. Why compare it to bestiality and pedophilia and god knows what other fcked up things they can come up with? It shows exactly what is going on in those little brains of theirs. You might want to believe they have good intentions ... and that is great and your right ... I wont bite though.

LOL - not intended. Mind you, I tend to find homosexual men to be brighter than average. I can't comment on women, well I can but I'd rather not...

Again, this could be about the circle of people with whom I associate, but grades at school and performance in extramural activities plays a big part. I just think that they like bragging, or having something to be proud about.

because those making the comparison like the negative connotations that go along with things like bestiality and paedophilia and necrophilia. Those who draw the comparisons know there is a nugget of truth in those comparisons, albeit a superficial one. They also know that people will not stop at that superficial comparison and instead will think of the sex acts themselves and the negatives that go with the acts.

I don't believe they have good intentions. This is STS however and his interpretation is, I've learnt, different from guys like Phrony. Phrony links homosexuality with bestiality and necrophilia to try to link negative connotations of the actual sex acts in order to try to justify the bigotry. STS isn't a bigot and refers simply to them being comparable because, and only because, they all constitute unconscious sexual attractions of one sort or another. (feel free to correct me if I'm wrong here STS)

IMO STS is probably one of the least bigoted people I've ever known (not that I know him all that well, for all I know he may talk the talk but not walk the walk... I doubt it though). He is almost annoyingly understanding of the various motivations of people. :p
