Afternoon guys can we discuss Honda brio I read few posts here. People saying little brio it's ugly and terrible car. I do agree the back looks half done beside the back it's a cute small car when you look from the side and front.

If you had to choose between Datsun Go, Hyundai i10 and Honda Brio which one would you take. If I do choose Honda Brio are Honda cars expensive to maintain. I'm young black guy in late 20s I have notice that Honda cars are mostly driven by white people (hence I think the are expensive to maintain) what are common problems with Honda Brio

Are you planning on buying brand new?

If so, I'd suggest buying a demo model or second hand. Have you looked at the Kia Picanto too?

FYI I took my Polo in for a service the other day and ended up chatting to the owner of the service centre. He told me about the cost of disk brakes on an i10 being more than expensive my 2010 polo...

Please man let's not go there I see where you want to go. I have my eyes on Honda is it a bad car and what are common problems with Honda brio

Honda's are great cars.

But then the Brio isn't really a Honda in the traditional sense, so only time will tell.

Just not the Datsun.

Lol FiestaST I said most Honda cars are driven by white people (I don't mean it in a racist way ) anywhere it seems you know slot about cars. Tell me what are you thoughts about Honda Brio.

Lol ok....I'm personally not a fan mostly due to its looks & interior.

For my money in that price range its Up! or the underrated Aygo. If not those two then Picanto & the current shape Spark is a really good small car as well.

'Grats on getting a car Semisane - enjoy.

I can't give car advice but can tell you it's important to have insurance before you leave the showroom.

Also SIL bought 5 years ago and was not told before about these hidden costs when financing:

R1 700 to initiate the deal. Maybe ask what they charge now.
Monthly finance fee started as R52 and after 5 years was R171 ..... PER MONTH

What i'm getting at is anything you can add later don't put on finance, like smash and grab.

Can't comment on the Brio. Phone the dealership and ask to speak to spares. Get prices for oil and air filter, brake pads and compare with the other cars. That will give you an indication of costs.

A few years ago I hired a Jazz. The small round fog light managed to get damaged while driving. It cost R3500 to repair that at the dealership. An absolute rip off.

I definitely would not recommend the Datsun Go.

I like the Kia Picanto or i20, but not sure about repairs and running costs. The Spark is a bit heavy to drive. Feels as though you should be helping the car along by pedalling.

VW Up. Blows all the current cars in the similar segment out the water on every aspect.

Thank you guys for the advice what I get most of you only hate Honda Brio because of it's looks other than that, nobody has told me anything negative about little brio

Hondas generally are really good, reliable cars that can go forever - until the day they decide not to. That usually happens a few years outside of warranty, and you learn just how expensive it can be. As much as I love the brand (I've owned two since I started driving 18 years ago), they can be extremely dear. Just keep that in mind when making a decision.

In that segment up! > i10/Picanto/Aygo > scooter > Brio > bicycle > roller skates > hiking boots > ... > Go, roughly. The refreshed Brio might have been improved, but I was so completely put off by my experience with the initial models that I really don't care to find out. I was stuck with a couple of them as company cars for a few months, and they were atrocious. Raucous little engine in a poorly assembled body - prone to rust, initially - with an interior artfully combining awful seats in terrible upholstery with cheap feeling plastics and switches.

Test drive all of them. The VW blows every other contender straight out the water.

The Go is a coffin.

Okay friends I will look at VW UP but I still think Honda Brio it's cute little car. Most of you hate it because of its back.

Lol those who said Honda Brio is ugly I guess they haven't seen Daihatsu Materia I would rather walk than to drive that guy. Let's name all the ugly cars

Don't buy a car for looks.

When inside it the looks become irrelevant and what's at your disposal while there is what matters.

Then the reliability and cost of ownership come into play.

Last on the list are the looks.

I'd go for the VW UP, the Kia Picanto or i10 or even the Etios. I would pass on the Brio

Vegeta why would you pass at the Honda Brio, I want that thing man for you why you would pass on brio. In terms of safety it got everything you need abs, airbags etc. You guys tell me about others cars but don't tell me why you dislike brio beside the boot. Only one person mentioned the rust and engine. So why would you pass on brio
