We have shown that we are more than willing to settle for mediocrity before, Honda is just doing what everyone is doing, downgrade the product and add more money in the selling price.

Unfortunately for Honda it doesn't seem to be going well.

One of the reasons I am so glad the Chinese are here to make things right, Honda is not going to survive for too long in SA.

The new Honda HR-V is stylish and elegant inside and out, and also impresses with refined road manners and plenty of interior specification. It is an otherwise brilliant product let down by the high price tag and underpowered engine.

So I wonder what makes this model better than the previous one? spec's look pretty much the same.

Those figures also seem unrealistic for an underpowered car.

Did you know there was an SUV shootout where the Honda BRV outsprinted some turbocharged SUVs on its 1.5l engine? I think it was Car magazine or Cars.co.za.

Will see if I can still find it.
 
Honda and Toyota seems not sold on the turbo thing, only difference is that Honda is stupidly expensive. I just learnt recently that Toyota has quietly replaced the Corolla hatch 1.2T with a normally aspirated 1.8l and 2l, with hybrid options.
