Hospitals on "High alert"

I was just mentioning that both white and black people are affected, if you read all the articles, it makes it seems as though only black are affected by this.
 
Mediclinic only cares about one thing...their bottom line.
That's why you have a half wit Marketing Manager spewing forth damage control comments as the clinic simply cannot afford to be blacklisted by potential patients.
Private Hospital Marketing Managers know sweet F all about matters of Public Health.

There is no infectious agent which limits itself to persons of a specific

I had a good giggle last nite. Immediately after the story was reported on the E-TV news, a Medi-Clinic advert was aired during the news ad-break.

As long as we're hit by diseases which match our efficiency levels we'll be OK.
 
It is my understanding that Patient X (the female patient) who was flown in from Zambia was a tour guide and had been traveling throughout Africa.

She may also have been on a Horseback Safari...and it is known that Horses can carry some scary diseases.

Hopefully they can identify this soon, and have taken measures to isolate people who have come in contact with the victims.

SA infectious disease unit is actually very capable, and this is a chance for them to show just how capable they are...!!
 
It is also worth noting that Patient X died on Sept 12, some three weeks ago!!

The above quote really doesn't inspire any confidence in the SA medical fraternity.
 
Looks like Hadebe may be headed for a severe case of "foot in mouth" disease. :p
 
The Incubation period is not 3 weeks on this based on the time lines. 3 weeks is from the time the caught the virus until the died. I see they are releasing more news. Maybe they are feeling a little pressure.
 
The named carrier was Ms. Cecilia van Deventer (36). Cousin of Cornè Krige :eek:

They suspect she had a tick bite from Zambia..... scary stuff
