Bear with me here, this is confusing me and it's quite annoying....

Anyway, I am in Saudi and using my own LTE router with a local sim card in my hotel, and the speed is a bit erratic. One day it's fine, next it's terrible. Today when I want to stream rugby, it's terrible.

I did a speedtest and it was about 0.5Mbps down.

I noticed my 5S was still pretty fast, did a speedtest using the Ookla app and it came in about 9Mbps down which is not bad for the area I'm in.

So, I made a hotspot on the iPhone and connected using wifi and bluetooth thinking that would be suitable and did a speedtest, and it's back down to 0.5Mbps :wtf:

Disconnected, did a speedtest on the app on the phone, back up to 9Mbps.

Seeing a link with poor performance and using wireless connection, I plugged in my lightening cable and tethered to the Air using that, and it's back to 9Mbps.

So, if you're still with me, it seems like the problem is the wireless, both with tethering to the iPhone and connection to the LTE router.

Any ideas? The common link seems to be the wireless connection on the Air? I'm on OS X 10.9.5 and iOS 8, and although I'm just really noticing this now, somedays definitely are faster on the Air using the LTE router.

It could be some sort of interference?

Try putting your phone on airplane mode and see if that changes anything.

Why are you connecting with WiFi & Bluetooth? Wifi should be enough.

When I switch on the hotspot, it asks me if I want to switch on both so I just say 'yes'.

Have you tried using a different wifi channel?
