How accurate is ADSLChecker?

If you switch to VDSL you will go from 1Mbps up and 18Mbps down, your current sync speed, to 2Mbps up and 22.5Mbps down.

Deadend I'm afraid. all they keep telling me is that its impossible.

After begging and asking Telkom and Web Africa I got the line to VDSL!

I knew they were lying, remember you won't get the full 40Mbps, if they even allow you to upgrade.

Not always worth it though. Telkom refused me 40Mbps and checker said max 20 because of Openserve policy that any orders for 40Mbps will be declined if the dp falls outside the 850m radius limit from the exchange....

I was outside that limit and placed a 40Mbps order 4 times before they approved it and I got 36Mbps sync speed. Line was stable but speeds were not great due to a ton of crc errors. So maxing a vdsl line is not really worth it and assia will step in and down your sync speed faster than it took to upgrade it.

I had basically identical line stats as you except I was syncing @ 22.5Mbps with a snr of 17dB.

Thanks for the advice, I guess I am going to upgrade and see what happens. If it's unusable then I will go back to ADSL.

Or definitely stay on 20Mbps VDSL compared to 20Mbps adsl2+

With VDSL 20Mbps your sync speed is actually 22.5Mbps which gives you about 19.60Mbps speedtest which is faster than 20Mbps adsl2+
 
Just got feedback from my line upgrade. Its not looking good....

"Thank you for your response.
We have just received feedback from Telkom.
We are unable to provide you with 40Mbps due to the distance from the exchange."

trying to work with Telkom directly now.
