Of course Apple's App Store was not the first commercial store for cellphones, despite what most seem to think... Nokia's Ovi Store arrived in 2003, a few years before Apple thought of the App Store.
Hrm, according to the Wikipedia article the Ovi Store was launched in 2009 (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ovi_(Nokia)#Ovi_Store). I don't recall another store available on-device for Symbian before then.

Nokia had a "Download" service store front,earlier App Store around 2004 side...
