BTW depression is the malady of the day.. I would love to know who isn't depressed in this day and age. I put it down to fear of the future, the over regulation that we have to live with and the the milking financially - banks charges, hidden taxes and penalty fees and interests are way to high. We basically cannot make enough money to support the inefficiency and overspending of the corporations and governments.
I tend to compare it to a merry go round that we used to play on as kids. You run next to it until it gets up enough speed then you jump on. Then you cannot get off until it slows down or unless you risk hurting yourself to stop it. Only the very rich and very poor are immune to this rat race, because the very rich don't care what it costs and the very poor gets aid when needed for free and have nothing to loose. The "strong middle working class" are screwed either way. You have the choice however - you can either continue playing the game or you can taking stock of what is really happening and basically clean up your life - chucking out all those things that are causing you this stress - good luck and go well.
that's just one kind of depression. you do get severe cases, or instances where it is actually caused by chemical imbalances. since we don't know Helghast's real issues, we can give some useful pointers at most
half of the job is helping yourself, but you do also need some form of support getting out of the depression. it's not as clear cut always as just "get yourself out of the ****ing hole"; those cases of depression is very mild usually. this is why i suggested shifting his focus to something that he enjoys and mixing it with exercises will help, like walking.
however, best he lookup up some form of professional help or at least someone who can give an outlook on the situation from a different point of view to himself, friends and family. a different perspective from someone outside your perspective is useful.
