Just shows how vulnerable we are to cleverly written malware, and don't be fooled that this can't happen on Mac's and Linux (Siemens didn't think their PLC software was vulnerable)- it's just a matter of time and most especially a mattter of whether your machine or data has some value to others...
Absolutely. People are under the false impression that Linux and Mac are completely invulnerable to attack by some mysterious design feature. Little do they know, its all about market share and like you said, if the data has any value. Now that Apple and even Linux are becoming more and more prevalent, we'll start to see more attacks. People can hack anything.

I've already seen quite a few attacks targeting the iPad and iPhone, stealing passwords etc.
