I am using the CellC 5Gb per month promotion. Normally 5Gb is plenty but this month I may run out as I used about 1.3Gb to download the new version of uBuntu.

If I run out of data will I be able to buy a data bundle to be used with the 5GbX12 SIM? If so how do I load the voucher. Both MTN and Vodacom have USSD commands to load a voucher but this seems to be missing on CellC.

Hi Mervyn,
There is a sticky thread in each section how to use USSD. There is also USSD help in MDMA, quite usefull. Make sure to unload your dashboard from memory before starting MDMA.

Go to a Cell-C and buy a 3GB 365 day voucher, you can enter the code via USSD.
This voucher is not available anywhere else.

What you don't use this month will be available as a "top-up" when you deplete your 5GB monthly allocation for the next 11 months.

I did look before I posted but all I could find was a thread on making USSD commands to CellC available on a Mac.

I actually have MDMA running in parallel with a connection made via the Windows dial-up system.

Only 3 options are listed for CellC in the help screen namely "Check balance" (I use it regularly as NetMeter only records Windows usage and I use the same connection for uBuntu where I don't have a cumulative data counter.), "Call me" and "Customer Menu". The "Customer Menu" option brings up some options of which one is "Data bundles". This offers various bundles at different prices. This would be fine for someone with a Top-up contract who gets an account at the end of the month but I'm using a pre-paid SmartData SIMCARD.

I assume CellC would sell me a voucher if I went in to one of their shops so I'm trying to find out how to get it loaded, always assuming that CellC will actually let me add additional data to the pre-paid 5Gb.

Great. This is exactly what I want. The 5Gb per month runs out in about 6 months so none of the 3Gb will be wasted as I'll be able to use it up after that.

The burning question though was how to get the voucher loaded. I'm using and older version of MDMA so that there is no temptation to play with the Band settings. (I've crunched one ZTE modem, I certainly don't want to repeat this.) The USSD help screen doesn't list an option to load a voucher. Then the penny dropped. Perhaps the newest version of MDMA lists more USSD options for CellC. Of course it does! :) Problem solved.

This smartdata voucher ginggs wrote about, costs R399 (as opposed to standard data bundle R400), it will be loaded not like a data bundle, but similar to normal aitime recharge by pin and USSD code is written on the voucher.

Hi

Please make sure you double check when buying it from store that it is the 3GB for 365 Days.
Some times there is confusion between the two of them.
