The last few weeks I've noticed myself pushing down really hard on the back of my mouth/teeth as if I'm grinding them but not grinding them just pushing down very hard.

Not sure if it's stress related/the whole thing with my aunt but its getting to the point where I have to consciously think about it so I can stop doing it.

Quite a relief when I release the pressure on it and my jaw is starting to hurt from it. Not sure how to stop really.

Is there any kind of homeopathic thing I can chew or eat that relaxes me a bit more?

You'll have to fix that with pure willpower....cause its a psychological thing.

Relax your jaw completely so that the teeth are a few mm away from each other. Thats the position they are supposed to be in.

It would help if you have something that reminds you every X minutes to relax your jaw....you can try all kinds of tricks for that. tipex dot on the watch is popular for people who check their watch every X seconds. Something along those lines.

The medical term for this is bruxism. Take a look at these links for more information.

Recommendation: Until such claims are confirmed, narrowed down, or refuted in a large-scale, double-blind study, the best strategy may involve taking the following on a daily basis: magnesium (approximately 100 mg), calcium (150 mg), and pantothenic acid (50 mg), combined with at least the following: vitamins A (1,000 IU), C (300 mg), E (60 mg), and iodine (0.1 mg=100 mcg). If bruxism subsides, patients should be advised to continue taking these pills. If no improvement is observed within 8 weeks or so, the approach should be given up.

Sure it's not a woman biting you? ;)

Knock her front teeth out, u r a Capie.

I find myself doin that a lot when I'm stressed. I try to remind myself often to relax my jaw, buti do even when I'm sleeping, and wake up with a sore jaw.

I bite down (not grind) when I am a sleep, always have and the only thing that i have noticed from it is a clicking jaw. I tried the gum guard thing from the dentist but after a week of use my jaw was in so much pain I just got over it. Although i have no idea what might cause you to start. Not very helpful but there you go.
