How does 5g work?

I just got a new 5g phone on contract with telkom but I can't access 5g. Do you need a 5g plan in order for 5g to work because I currently haven't bought a 5 g plan specifically?
Is there a way to get prepaid 5g on telkom?
Shouldn't the sim card with the phone support 5g since it's a 5g phone?
I checked the telkom website and they only have contracts with 5g and it comes with a router. So, I'm thinking you take the sim from that and put it into your phone or just use the router as a hotspot.

You need to be in a 5g coverage area for 5g to work.. 5g isn't available country wide just yet, still being rolled out..

If you did not get your implant with the latest wave of vaccines it will never work.

Please go to Dischem and ask them for the 5g shot. they will assist you and you will never run out of coverage again.

Telkom does not support mobile 5G yet, only FWA (with their router). Don't know if or when they will ever support it

Don't even start with 5g.. I have an S22, it reports 4g+ and I know very well that it is actually 3g LTE running at about 60mB/s, so one day when I see my phone running at 1000mB/s or more I will be pleased.. But its more likely to rain cats and dogs in my lifetime.
