How long does TELKOM take?

I applied for a Telkom phone line and it took 2 months for it to be installed.

I then yesterday applied for an ADSL account and they said that it will take another 2 weeks. How long do they usually take.

When I applied for a ADSL account it was instant:eek:
 
Having a phone line and getting ADSL are 2 different things (If I'm not wrong)

I think it normally look a long time, but now it's only 2 weeks, that's good compared to like 6 months (which it used to be)

Patience eh :)
 
I'm still waiting for telephone lines to be installed in my apartment in Illovo. It's been over a month, the bastards have already sent me an invoice and no one has even called. I then went to the telkom office and complained, they say they are coming on the 23rd... Will see... :mad:

ADSL usually takes a couple days to be activated...

Lol, it all depends man, you can never tell with Telkom.

Just sit tight and wait patiently.

In my case they took five months for the ADSL line. During the five months they also managed to completely disable my ISDN service, killed my phone line twice and charged me for both ISDN and ADSL for several months. :D

so don't worry... you are in good hands! ;)
 
I know someone who already had a line and it took 8 months just for the adsl to be activated.

Someone else I know needed a line and adsl and he waited 6 months.

I had a line already, and it took 1 week for adsl to be activated, plus a free modem. :D
 
I know of people, its almost a year now - the lines were stolen and Telkom just don't bother fixing it. Shame, and its not even on a farm.
 
Depends on how many times they lose your application.

In my case they lost it 1 time and forgot about it 1 time = 1 month.
 
I had an existing line, but they took 7 weeks. The excuse I got was there was no ports at my exchange. I called every week, eventually got an escalation number, 2 weeks thereafter it was done! A colleague of mine applied on a Friday, got it installed the Monday after. Different area, sure. So it like pot luck, or depends which way the wind blows, or.... who knows...., it is Telkom, ffs.
 
my Cape Town phone line and ADSL "installation" took like 2 weeks in total.

i have now moved to Kuilsrivier and the new line is taking 2 months for JUST the phone line... so much for that 21 days working days MAX they first quoted me on.

at this rate i might have ADSL again at the end of July
