How long it will take to burn through your data cap

Lol, survey data cap starts at 1 GB.

I get 0.2 GB with Vodacom not-so-smart something.

I'm glad you guys are looking into interactive visual data. Please can you look at sortable columns in your tables? It's easy enough for me to copy the data into Excel but others might not have that privilege.

Would love to know how much Vodacom makes off 'accidental' data usage. Imagine you get your new LTE phone and it gets new firmware, updates preloaded apps etc etc. Then go OOB and 1 month later you get your bill...

To be fair though seems like they send SMS's foe data usage.

Impossible to do less tha 3GB a day, usually a lot more, thank fsck for uncapped.

2 hours 100/100. Uncapped after hours though so its a non-issue.

Yeah that is pretty cool.

I think that is wrong.

Telkom ADSL is 5 x faster, but has 10 x the cap, so should last twice as long as iBurst.

I'm on TI 2Mbs uncapped & do 5GB between 00:00-07:00 without affecting my usage.

What does this means exactly? You'll hit your cap from just normal usage (browsing) at full speed or when downloading media?

Telkom 'uncapped adsl' caps me at around 300GB and brings down my speed to about 10kb/s. Use that up in about a week.

Mweb business uncapped starts capping me at around 100GB and totally stops my Internet (Internet speeds of around 4kb/s). Use this up in about 3-5 days. After about a week it is open again and I can download about 1-10GB until I get locked out for the rest of the month.

Then I make use of my 8TA pre-paid line. I purchase two 60GB+60GB bundles for the last 2-3 weeks of the month. Cost me R3600 for the two pre-paid bundles.

This is what data I need to get through the month.

Have you tried an uncapped unshaped ADSL account?

Yes, the R1800 package at Mweb. They cap at around 300GB. If you reach the cap for a couple of months, they lower that cap to around 100GB for a long term period. If contacted, they tell you that they are monitoring the account and may permanently apply the lower cap. In fact, there were months where they never restored my cap at the end of the month and I stayed capped for about 2-3 months on end. They bring up their FUP as the reason for this.

If you are paying R1800 and getting capped at 300GB you are on the wrong package. That will get you a 20MB uncapped business account from most ISPs with no cap at all.

Nah, I've tried them all. Scary thing is, Telkom is by far the best provider if you have heavy bandwidth needs. That being said, there is nothing such as 'Uncapped ADSL'. Each and every provider caps or shapes their service at some point in time. The term uncapped is only a catch phrase to get people to sign up.

Some good speeds there... I remember when 512k ADSL came out with a standard 3GB cap. The WOW factor it was indeed.

What was your experience on Afrihost business? I've been on the service for years now and they don't shape or throttle me at any amount of usage. My household typically does 350-550GB a month.
