How long does it take Telkom and Webafrica to sort out a issue im currently having. Line dropping 4-5 time a day and countless at night.

Telkom technician don't know how to fix nor have a idea what are CRC errors are on a line.
Webafrica just says they report the fault to telkom - Shouldn't they have a different channel to a common telkom technical department

Ive been having this issue for 3 months and on going

Does any person have a number i can contact to sort this out

Sorry m8 you on your own :(, TelkomZA aka Charl use to help us, but he has moved to higher post at telkom. You can try TelkomZA, apparently they have a new team on this account http://mybroadband.co.za/vb/member.php/258937-TelkomZA

Ask them to adjust your ASSIA DSM profile (if you are running on ASSIA), and let them monitor your line. High CRC errors usually points to SNR issues

Thank you ..

Yes my SNR down is constantly changing and the errors pile up and then Disconnects

Happens alot at night, Ive taken photo's and video's but telkom technician says no fault found.

ill do what you said and hope again

Do you have a landline connected to that line?

I think you mean telephone?, and if that was the case the telkom techs were suppose to test that

D'oh! Sorry, that is what I meant, yes. :)

I was going to suggest that if he's having SNR-related drops, to lift the phone off the hook and then reconnect. You'll find that your SNR improves when the phone is off the hook. I know it's not the best solution and sounds counter-intuitive but it helped me grind through months of this same issue and can be used as a temporary measure. I would go from anywhere from 4-6db down with low sync and constant drops to 10-14 with a relatively stable connection with my phone off the hook.

No phone connected and dropped now 3 time while posting. Line drops from 8 mb to 4 mb

Could also be the copper in your area, also had the same issue after they had stolen the cable twice and damage it 3 times. Those new joints cause massive ATT increases. Had to change my Modulation from ADSL2+ to ADSL G.dmt, just to get a stable 4mb line because it did the same as yours did, but mine synced @ 2mb. And worst of all the techs kept saying there was nothing wrong until more people started complaining, only then they realized the the cable was F@%#ked.

 all the problems when they improved the network box and hired contractors to replace it .. 3 weeks later and just problem after problems.

Depends on the type of contract they have with telkom.

Usually when you ask your ISP to take over your line with telkom,
it's the same as doing it yourself, they just do it for you.

I believe many peeps overlook this unfortunately, I could be wrong though :/

Hi Gareth,
I had the same problem. My 10 meg line went to a less than 4 meg over night. Battled with Telkom from August to December last year until they finally admitted the cable was faulty and tuff $h1t they can't fix it. To old. So I went over to the LTE uncapped online special.
I was also with Webafrica. All I can advise you to do is to keep on logging the fault with them. Keep it up until they admit defeat. Then you can cancel the service without having to give a month notice, that is if you do decide to go with the LTE package. Was a mission to get but I now have an uncapped connection that averages between 50 and 75 megabits per second, all for R599 per month.

thank you. Ive now spoken to a person call'd Kenneth , Email Patrick Ops manager and went into the stall to complain about the service

i get this from webafrica after asking to talk to a manager
Hi Gareth,

My manager has tried contacting you on the numbers provided but to no avail. ( I work in retail my number is always working )

He will be going into a meeting and will be unavailable for the rest of the day.

He has escalated your fault to Telkom with the utmost urgency.

The only other senior available to speak to will be Mujeeb.

Looks like they got there priority right
