How Many Dops at the Braai?

I would be 43, a non smoker and believe it or not swim 40 minutes every day of the week.... I have been drinking beer since i was 16.....
 
I also enjoy a Windhoek Draught or six while around the braai but NOT IN A CAN !!!! Sies! Either get the 440ml or 660ml bottles...
 
Now, probably a couple glasses of cheap wine. :o

When I was an idiot, close to a bottle of vodka in an evening, or 15 beers or something silly.

I occasionally polish of a bottle of whisky with someone else, and that seems okay.
 
4 or 5 quarts of Castle for me or I could do most of a bottle of rum or brandy. I get sarcastic on hard tack though.
 
Depends. If there are snacks before the braai I'll probably do 6 beers (330 ml Black Label or Windhoek) and feel good. If I'm on an empty stomach, 4 beers and I'll have to stop. Also, once I've eaten I can't drink anymore for a while, especially if I was drinking Black Label as that is a ''heavy'' beer. Also depends on the atmosphere. If there is energy (music, good convo, big sports event, any combination of the three) I could stretch that to 10 beers and while I'll be on it I won't be stumbling around and slurring.
 
Usually As much as there is, so I only take a 6-pack for an evening braai. 12 if its a potjie and starts in the afternoon.

Now many visitors to our mining town, take a 2nd look at this.... but there are dutchmen here that don't think twice about knocking back 4 or 5 340ml beers for a starter, then a bottle of brandy with a smattering of shorts, let's make that four shorts to be fair....

So in all honesty, how much do you consume around the braai on Saturday Afternoon?

On a bday or rugby game, about 18 with lots of shots, and probably a few brandies.

I live in Pretoria, also gets very hot here on satudays.....
 
If the braai is at a friend's, then I drink about 10 340ml dumpies (5.5%). Only because I have to drive home and I'm under the limit after this number of beers over several hours. (Hint: I weigh more than MortyMoose).

When at home though, the sky is the limit. I buy a case and maybe have 6 left over in the morning. The numbers are skewed though because friends bring theirs, I drink from their stash, they drink from my stash, and I usually stop caring to count at 14...
 
If I am expecting a heavy day, 12 to 16 lights (I know so what)

Otherwise, 6 pint cans of Guinness and maybe 2 Grolsch swingers.

Sounds about right :)

I don't drink that often but when I drink there's no holding back
 
Jeesh... and I thought I was a light drinker.....:eek:
I normally start wit a couple of Black Labels. Move on to a bottle of brandy with some shots in between. By that time I'm really thirsty, and start on the wifes wine. Or just share whatever there is.
I know a guy that drinks a bottle of brandy each and every day of the week, and still get up at 4:30 and do a days work.....
At a braai he would easily finish 2 bottles and still talk more sence then some.
