How Many Dops at the Braai?

Sjoe there are some proper boozers here.

In generally not a lot these days maybe 4x 340ml bottles but when I go back to PTA and have a braai with the boys then quite a bit more.

If braaing at home a beer or two max. Any more and I can't eat.

If at my mil's than a glass of wine or two. Three when she insists cos no-one else dops

I can't even make it through a 6 pack .... maybe 3 or 4 and then im sozzzzzzled. Throw in a shot of something and i'll be well gone. A tequila or jagermeister and i'll vomit.

Nowadays, probably a cider or two at the most, then just water or fruit juice.

Back in my student days it was a 6 pack to warm up, followed by a few singles of moer juice (Brandy) and Coke, or Vodka and Cream soda.

Now many visitors to our mining town, take a 2nd look at this.... but there are dutchmen here that don't think twice about knocking back 4 or 5 340ml beers for a starter, then a bottle of brandy with a smattering of shorts, let's make that four shorts to be fair....

They always say that. They have to. It's in the fine print of the marriage contract.
Mine nags me and I drink 8 x 440ml Black Labels maximum (usually it's about 4).

One has to wonder, when did it change, when I met Head Office, she knew I drank a lot, more than I am drinking these days, was'nt a problem then..... 20 years down the line it appears to be an issue. Asking her, why does it bother you if I sit at home,have a few beers, watch the game, play a bit of bagpipe music and have a braai, now and again I might have a mate over..... at least I am not out prowling the bars looking for some slut through beer goggles and I ain't driving, I ain't an abusive drunk, I don't bitch slap her around, don't swear at her, in fact when I am drunk, I love everybody....

The guys in the office reckons that it boils down to jealousy, she is jealous coz, you're having a good time..... thoughts?

If the braai is at a friend's, then I drink about 10 340ml dumpies (5.5%). Only because I have to drive home and I'm under the limit after this number of beers over several hours. (Hint: I weigh more than MortyMoose).

When at home though, the sky is the limit. I buy a case and maybe have 6 left over in the morning. The numbers are skewed though because friends bring theirs, I drink from their stash, they drink from my stash, and I usually stop caring to count at 14...

I would be 43, a non smoker and believe it or not swim 40 minutes every day of the week.... I have been drinking beer since i was 16.....

You're only slightly older than me and I also started beer around 16 (don't drink the hard stuff) but I would never be able to drink that much these days, I'll be dead. When I was younger we would easily drink out a case of pints and then some but these days I just cannot do it captain.

Most mines I've been at has the 10 by 10 rule. Stop drinking at 10 PM or 10 hours before your shift - in case they breathalyze you.
I didn't have shifts, but could get called to the server room at ungodly hours.
Not in that business anymore, but still have the habit of toning it down after 22:00.
But usually I'm a Bacardi and Coke man (No - not the Breezer, you uncultured little twit. Pull up your pants!)
If I alternate between 'spook en diesel' and coke - I can finish a bottle and help make breakfast and go for a jog the next morning.

But Tequila.... Ai... My poor kidneys... Make it stop...

Mmmh! Well I don't do this every weekend, I have cut back at least 70 % since 3 years ago.... this does not mean that I consume less beer per sitting, it means that instead of getting pissed every Friday,Saturday , I now only perform this ritual 2 or three nights a month.... When I first met Head Office, I was Drinking, Monday - Nothing, Tuesday - Snooker and Darts Club,Wednesday - Gun Club, Thursday - Nothing, Friday - The Don/Angling Club, Saturday - Snooker Darts, Sunday - Gun CLub... Head Office made me cut back, also I dumped 2 cases of beer in the Beach Buggy, when dune riding in the desert (a couple of times) almost killed myself because somebody removed dunes in the week, So now I mostly suip at home or if I get invited somewhere where I can walk from.....
