How many Ebucks do you earn??

People must stop spreading misinformation only using your eB on Makro voucher. Use it for whatever the fsck gives you the most value. To anyone reading this, don't listen to these clowns!

I agree, to a point.
When I see something I want on sale at a retailer that accepts eBucks payment I ask myself 2 questions:
a) does Makro sell this (and now it will also be Checkers/Hyper)?
b) Is this cheaper than Makro (Checkers) price - 40%?

If the answer is no to either, I would buy the item from the retailer.

You must be really stupid if you use your ebucks for anything other than vouchers, travel or other where you get 40% discount on L5.
Makro's prices are always very competitive and they have a big range of products.
R1 000 in eBucks spent at Takealot, Cape Union Mart, HiFi Corp, etc. = 10, 000eB
R1 000 in Ebucks spent at Checkers, Makro or anywhere else where you get 40% discount = 6, 000 eB.

Shops don't normally just slash 40% off their prices.

Listen bud, I know all about the perks of shopping at Makro. But Makro isn't the be all and end all, they don't stock many things.

Like I said, don't spread bullschit about how people have to use their ebucks the way you think they should. Yes where possible, use it at Makro or wherever you can get 40%. But don't force yourself to save them up because you feel compelled to use it at Makro, on something you may not even need. The point is that some people may want some cash in hand, earning interest, and not feel compelled to buy something for the sake of it...

His comment was in response to someone who said using ebucks for travel was wrong. I think I have extracted the most value from ebucks from their travel offering, as not everything can be bought at Makro and Checkers

It's simple maths. Makro also has something for everyone. Toys, electronics, appliances, outdoor stuff, sport equipment, Office and stationary, even your every day items, like groceries. Use your eBucks and maximize it with 40% discount and use your cash elsewhere. Even cash instead of eBucks for investments.

Geez dude, is Makro a wonderland where you take the family for outings or something? No they don't have everything, and I prefer to get my groceries at Checkers to optimise my earn, thanks.

If I can get something at Makro then I will, if I want to book a flight then I will, if I want to invest some of it and earn interest on money that I never had, I will. And I'm not stupid for using it in whichever way I get the most value from...

You are spot on. Buying airtime and the 40% off at makro or another partner is probably the better deal... But I have spent some at other places where makro I wanted an item and it didn't want to use my CC as it would push it over my already too high threshold. And I don't feel bad or "stupid" for doing that.

Question - in what way must payment be made via CC to count toward Ebucks spend. One thing I did not consider (thanks Sauron) was manually paying some of my debit orders via CC.

However does just doing a transfer from the CC count for this or...?

Apologies for the stupid question if this is somehow obvious.

Swipes or online. Not transfers or efts.
So use payfast to pay your municipal bill, etc.

Thank you.

So it must be processed via a pay portal ala any online purchase.

Wonder how many of my debits allow for this...

Correct. A Pay portal will get you some eBucks.
Payfast for municipality and someone in this thread mentioned that they pay their Telkom DSL via a pay "portal"/gateway as well.
I will be doing the above mentioned from this month on.

I've never been so eager to pay my bills before lol.

lol mee too. I registered my easypay account this morning, only to be bitterly disappointed to find out I already paid my water&lights bill :(

You can pay MTN contracts, DSTV subscriptions via a monthly credit card deduction (without your intervention every month).
I'm sure a lot of the bigger companies offer this option instead of a debit order.

Also look at other monthly payments that may have a credit card option, like school/university fees, charitable donations, ISPs etc

Did this check now and all but 3 debits offer me an auto CC payment option.

Much happiness!
