I currently work 'freelance' but it's more like a remote position at R150/hr.

I recently went for another interview and when they asked how much I got paid, I said R250/hr. They said it was reasonable but it being not a complete remote position and my obligations at campus since I'm in my final semester it didn't work out.

So I got another thing going, and they're going to make an offer soon, how much should I be expecting?

Some notes:
I'm in Durban, .NET experience mostly been working with ASP.NET MVC currently. Built APIs, also been exposed to some front end stuff. I have experience working on Azure and a background in mobile app dev.
Also dabbled in some other technologies
Django, Node.js, I'll be writing an Oracle SQL certification soon.
Currently exploring Power BI.

The job will require me traveling about 50km a day, about 2 hours of traveling if there is no major traffic.

Distance isn't that bad but the traffic will be the death of me.
It will. It'll make you hate your job.

Best suggestion is to get a bike as mentioned above or make sure you have flexibility hours.

As for your worth - years full-time experience? What sector did you work in? (Financial, startups, etc.)

You're expecting 40k gross a month for junior level experience? Naw, lower your expectations.

Also, 50km with traffic and +- 2hr a day traffic will kill you. If you get the job @40k then move.

Wait, is 50km of travel for 2 hours per day a lot? That's 25km and an hour's travelling time, one way.

I'm going to say start ups. Although one client was white labeled, current clients are economists so I'm learning some business lingo hence the Power BI learning.

Lol even I know 40k seems ridiculous in Durban. I just don't want to be shafted, I read a post here where a tech only got 5k cos he asked for that and that same company hired another tech for 15k.

I travel 53k one way a day. So that's 106k a day :p

Traffic is a bitch, but it will have to do until I am able to move to Johannesburg in the near future. Just not an option at the moment.

50km in total is really not that bad. I'm guessing 2 hours is for the entire trip there and back, which is reasonable as well. Try flexi hours.

I travel 55km one way. Traffic is a nightmare. Can easily go 3 hours a day.

holy *****.. and you didn't even need to be beaten by sharepoint. lucky bugger :)

Ugh, bikers coming here and assuming that everyone wants to put their lives at risk to save a few minutes in traffic...
