How much bandwidth do you use per month? If you have multiple accounts, add them up...

I think you should make another poll saying how much could you use in a month (if bw weren't so darned expensive). I would average 30 gigs at least.

I use <3GB.. but only cause i don't have much of a choice. If local was seperately capped then i would use alot more..

4mb/s when I can get it.

Agreed. I think cost is a prohibitive factor for most people. Previous polls revealed this. I ran a poll like this before, but it is time for a new one. The folks who are prohibited by cost are free to state as much. Anonymity would be better and I will run such a poll later. Majority so far are using more than 18 Gigs a month... I am in that group and cringe at the cost. I would however like to see if Telkom's 3 Gig account average is representative for the folks here.

i will tell you that if i win 1 of those 8x4mbit openweb uncapped accounts.

Would be more like, how much are you willing to spend on bigger hard drives

I also agree that we need a poll about how much we need to use as apposed to how much we have to settle for using due to high costs.

I'm sure most (not all) of those using 18GB and over are those lucky enough to be able to get that much out of their Telkom 3GB account.

I don't want to vote because I don't want to add to Telkom's view that 3GB is enough.

I use around 2 1/2GB a month because I'm on Web Africa's prepaid and thats all I can afford. I have had to force myself to stop ALL downloads and to watch everything else I do. This is completely and utterly unfair that Telkom has me by the throat and I can't do anything about it.

I've downgraded from a Telkom 3GB account to web africa 1GB because of cost. But I always end up exceeding it and having to buy topups, usually 3 - 6 / month. You just can't win it seems.

I have 2 brothers overseas, each with multiple megabit connections. Between them they probably use a few hundred gig a month.

VQuest I have a 30GB local only account for R139pm which gets me about 30-35GB in downloads. Add a Webafrica prepaid account for R70 for international browsing, and connect both those to routesentry so that you route international through the Webafrica account and local through the local only IS account and for ~R200pm you can have ~30GB worth of downloads using your local bandwidth and the ability to surf internationally using only the Webafrica account. This way local bandwidth doesn't contribute to your prepaid data usage.

100% agreed!

On 100gig so far this month, few hours left ;)

If you are a home user, then I really am at a loss as to how someone could use so much. I mean do you download movies and then delete them after watching or what? or do you run Streaming Audio of Highveld Stereo just to chow bw.

@Antowan: This poll would be more useful if it was split into home users and business users. I mean what is the point of grouping together a business (even from home) using 100 GB a month versus a homeuser who only needs 2.5GB a month? There is also no point in saying "Our survey showed most users want 30+GB per month" when that only applies to businesses.

I've been averaging just over 50GB the past two months at home. That's obviously upload & download bandwidth. This excludes any downloads I do from work.
