an Intel Q6600 G0 that runs up to 3,6 GHz, an ASUS Striker Extreme SLI motherboard, a XFX 8800 GTX that runs on Ultra specs and a 2 GB kit Corsair CL4 ram.

I was thinking of about R6000. I think that it is a fair price for the performance of the system. The only things you would need for a complete PC would be a PSU, CPU cooler (I might buy one), case and a HDD. That would set you back another ~1250-1500 so for 7500 Rand the performance would be very nice.

But go ahead and tell me what you think.

There is no more warrenty on the parts. But they run like they are new :)

Indicative of 2nd hand market prices..

and if you have already been OC'ing the CPu and @3.6 ... I wouldn't offer more than R1K.

Hmm, certainly food for thought, what do the rest of you have to say on the matter?
I think load temps and at the voltage it needs a t that speed are needed!

I cool with water cooling temps never go over 50°C under load. Idle temps are ~30-35. VCore is at 1,48 which is still within the Intel Specs of 1,30-1,50 Volt

Yip, good temps, however the voltage is just a little bit less than desirable (usually 1.4v or even 1.39 or below are the ones people are looking for)

Well it's hard to tell actually, anybody else have an opinion?, you could try R1,5k on gumtree..

I would love to go over 400 FSB but my south bridge is allready at 1,8 volt and will not go over that on my P45 Neo3 so I guess with the 1,48 volt it would be possilbe to go up to 3,8 GHz or more.

@ IRG

I would like to upgrade to a 45 nm CPU --> Q9550 and it is time to sell my stuff because I allways sell after one or two years and the system is over 2 years old now. And I'm getting a EVGA GTX 285 SSC at the end of the month :)

sweet card .... I was so p!$$ed off after getting my GTX280, a month later and they released the 285 and 290.

at least I got the OC'd ver at a flipping good price - R5500. everywhere else they wer R6500 - R7000!

Do you have a EVGA? If yes you have the 90 step up. I don't like the 295 because SLI is just crap used to have it with 2x 7800 GTX and as soon as the next gen GPU is out it is better than 2x SLI or even Tri SLI.

nah XFX (see my sig) - but I'm very happy with it, play full HD everything bumped to max - handles everything I chuck at it!

Dude, it's SLI on 1 card, it's different to having two physical cards in which performance can vary wildly game to game.

From all benchmarks I have seen the 295 just sucks 2x 285 ist about ~10-15% faster. The only positive thing a 295 has you don't need 4 PCIe power cables. But than again as I said I don't like SLI because it is just to expensive not only do the cards cost but also the power consumption! Green IT is something very nice. I know that under full load when I have my GTX 285 and my Q9550 I'l run @ about 300 Watt. And Idle about 100 Watt.

2x 285 =R9,532 (Take2 in stock MSI OC) (Costs 32% more for what you say to be 10 - 15% performance increase)
vs
1x 295 = R6,513 (Prophecy in stock ZOTAC)

I would suggest your powers of deduction are a bit out of wack.

Add to that less room for variation cos the SLI happens on the card then into one 16x PCI. (ie. avoiding some games which don't respond well to separate cards in SLI)

Edit: Ikonic IT even has it for R6499, but then again Prophecy shipping is free over R1k if I remember correctly..

GTX295 --> 1792 MB Ram
2x 285 --> 2048 MB Ram

I Only paid R4252 for my 285 SSC :P Because I bought the card in Germany and we are getting visitors and I can actually get my VAT (19%) back since I live here in SA so it cost me R3460.

But any way thanks for you opinions so will sell the stuff for ~4899 :)
